Perovskite Solar Market Seen Hitting $1.73B by 2035 at 40.41% CAGR

London – October 19, 2026 -- The global perovskite solar cell market will grow from USD 58.2 million in 2025 to USD 1.73 billion by 2035, a 40.41% compound annual growth rate, according to a Credence Research model. The figures are the research firm's own estimates, not audited supplier sales totals.

Asia Pacific holds 70.0% of 2025 value, while North America grows fastest at 47.00%

Asia Pacific led 2025 sales with a 70.0% share, supported by early Chinese manufacturing capacity and utility demonstration fields. Europe followed with 15.5%, North America with 11.2%, the Middle East and Africa with 2.4%, and Latin America with 0.9%. North America has the fastest modeled growth at 47.00% annually, from a smaller base driven by domestic module initiatives and specialty rooftop uses.

Perovskite-silicon tandems grow at 54.00% a year, while rigid single-junction modules hold 56.9%

Single-junction rigid modules accounted for 56.9% of 2025 market value. Perovskite-silicon tandems are the fastest-growing product type at a modeled 54.00% annually. Utility-scale plants made up 43.0% of 2025 application value, largely from early demonstration and pilot projects. Commercial and residential rooftops are the fastest-growing application at 46.50% annually.

The report counts manufacturer selling value of single-junction and tandem perovskite products. It excludes conventional silicon modules, raw precursors, coating tools, licensing fees and research grants.

Durability and lead chemistry limit bankability

Perovskite cells can degrade under moisture, heat and prolonged sunlight exposure. Lenders require long-duration field data and credible warranties, and the report notes that a laboratory cell record does not demonstrate a bankable 25-year field product. Lead-containing chemistries raise encapsulation, handling and end-of-life recycling questions. Low-cost crystalline silicon modules also cap the price premium early perovskite products can command.

Credence Research cautions that the high growth rates come from a very small revenue base and do not indicate broad grid-scale deployment today.

Tandems expected to reach commercial traction before stand-alone modules

The report expects tandem products to gain traction before stand-alone perovskite modules become a mass-market substitute for silicon. Large manufacturers with certification, warranty capacity and distribution channels hold advantages. Large silicon producers are evaluating tandem upgrades that could reuse parts of established production and distribution networks.

The forecast remains sensitive to module lifetime, production yield, intellectual property access and project finance.

Oxford PV licenses patents to Trinasolar for China; Qcells tandems pass stress tests

On April 9, 2025, Oxford PV and Trinasolar announced an exclusive patent licensing agreement covering the manufacture or sale of perovskite photovoltaic products in China, with sublicensing rights. In May 2025, Qcells tandem modules passed specified IEC and UL stress-test sequences, according to the report. Credence Research describes this as a report-sourced milestone, not independent proof of a 25-year service life.

The supplier landscape also includes UtmoLight, Microquanta, GCL Perovskite, LONGi and Caelux, which develops perovskite-coated glass for tandem applications. Credence Research assigns no individual supplier shares, citing the lack of reliable revenue data in comparable public disclosures.
