Freightos Pitches Agile Freight Procurement as Fuel Surcharges Swing 25%
Freightos Pitches Agile Freight Procurement as Fuel Surcharges Swing 25%

Global – October 17, 2026 -- Fuel surcharges can swing 15–25% within a single quarter, outpacing annual tender cycles, according to Freightos, which is promoting automated procurement tools to address the gap.

The company says many procurement teams still manage some of their largest cost lines with manual processes, spreadsheets and outdated rate data. It outlined its alternative in a webinar, now available as a recording, covering standardized and automated tendering and fuel and BAF updates between tender cycles that avoid a full renegotiation.

Freightos Procure automates up to 90% of manual tendering tasks

Freightos says Freightos Procure covers RfQ generation, carrier management, sanity checks and best-rate calculations. The stated aim is to shift procurement staff from administration to decision-making.

Structured BAF reviews run between full tenders

Buyers can run BAF review cycles using their own methodology or carrier-submitted updates. The workflow includes built-in approval steps and full audit trails.

Freightos Terminal benchmarks rates against $50B+ in freight spend

Freightos Terminal provides daily-updated spot and contract benchmarks, drawn from more than $50 billion in real commercial freight spend. Buyers can check where their rates stand before negotiating.

The webinar was hosted by Judah Levine, Head of Research at Freightos Group, and Florian Gottlieb, Enterprise Account Manager at Freightos. Freightos also offers a free guide for teams starting the shift to agile procurement.
