Storm Restoration Expert Nathan Rowitz of Fairfax, VA Explains How to Tell If Storm Damage Needs Professional Restoration for HelloNation

FAIRFAX, Va., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Why do small signs of storm damage so often turn into major repairs for homeowners in Virginia? A HelloNation article offers a clear explanation based on the experience of Storm Restoration Expert Nathan Rowitz of Trident Contracting, Inc., and it shows how early clues help determine when a professional restoration contractor is needed. The full guidance appears in a HelloNation article.

Many homeowners assume that storm damage is limited to what they can see from the ground. The HelloNation article explains that conditions such as missing shingles or a light ceiling stain can seem harmless at first glance, yet both can hide deeper structural issues. Storm Restoration Expert Nathan Rowitz notes that these early signs appear after fast-moving storms common in the region, and the article shows how Fairfax weather often makes damage look minor even when the internal structure is already affected.

The HelloNation article describes how water can move through a home in ways that surprise homeowners. A small ceiling stain in a hallway may actually come from missing shingles on a distant part of the roof. The article explains that a restoration contractor understands how moisture travels beneath the roofing surface, especially after strong winds loosen flashing or lift shingles. By showing how water follows framing lines rather than straight paths, the article underscores the importance of an expert evaluation.

Even when a homeowner checks the attic and finds no active dripping, the problem can still be growing. The HelloNation article explains that wet insulation holds moisture long after a storm. This trapped water delays the appearance of visible signs of insulation damage until the materials begin to dry. A professional restoration contractor looks for the subtle changes that appear before stains show on walls or ceilings. Nathan Rowitz emphasizes through the article that moisture inside insulation and drywall is often the first stage of long-term storm damage.

Fairfax weather plays a major role in how storm damage progresses. The HelloNation article explains how temperature swings cause damp materials to expand and contract. When temperatures drop after a storm, water-soaked materials shrink and widen small cracks. When the air warms again, those same materials release moisture back into the home. This cycle increases the risk of mold, especially when insulation damage is hidden inside attics or wall cavities. The article shows how a restoration contractor uses tools to locate these moisture changes before they spread.

The HelloNation article also discusses the roof deck, an area homeowners rarely inspect. A restoration contractor examines the feel of the roof deck as they move across it. Soft spots signal trapped moisture or early rot. Missing shingles, combined with a weakened roof deck, increase the likelihood that water will enter during the next storm. The article explains how Fairfax weather patterns accelerate this type of damage, especially when storms arrive back-to-back.

Even small exterior changes can hint at larger problems. The HelloNation article details how granule loss on shingles helps a restoration contractor identify wind pressure patterns during the storm. Areas with greater granule loss often indicate weakened protection, which can allow water to reach the roof deck. By linking these clues together, the article shows how Nathan Rowitz evaluates storm damage as a connected system rather than isolated surface issues.

Interior signs also matter. The article explains how changes in drywall texture or slight shifts along trim boards appear days or weeks after a storm. These small indicators often mean water is moving behind the wall. A restoration contractor sees patterns that a homeowner might miss. Nathan Rowitz stresses that paying attention to these early signs helps keep repairs simple and contained.

Homeowners often worry that calling a restoration contractor will lead to major repairs. The HelloNation article explains that the goal of an expert evaluation is clarity, not pressure. A professional assessment helps determine if the problem is structural, cosmetic, or limited to insulation damage or missing shingles. When caught early, many repairs remain small. The article shows that early detection supports better decisions and protects the home.

Insurance documentation is another area where expert help matters. The HelloNation article explains how restoration contractors collect detailed photos and notes that show how the storm caused the damage. This documentation helps prevent delays and supports accurate claims. Without it, homeowners may struggle to prove the full extent of storm damage.

The article concludes that Fairfax weather changes quickly, which means conditions such as ceiling stain formation, insulation damage, and roof deck weakening can progress faster than expected. When homeowners notice missing shingles or suspect storm damage, a professional review helps protect the home's structure. The article repeatedly emphasizes that an experienced restoration contractor provides guidance that prevents minor issues from becoming major ones.

Legendary athlete and children's book author read his book for patients and helped deliver My Special Aflac Duck® to children with cancer and sickle cell disease

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Brian Jordan, former Major League Baseball, NFL football star and Chairman and CEO of the Brian Jordan Foundation, joined Aflac Incorporated and Aflac U.S. President Virgil Miller, at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis today to help provide joy and inspiration for patients and families. Jordan, who spent seven baseball seasons in the Gateway City, retired from both baseball and football, trading in his cleats for a pen, authoring six inspirational children's books. He read his first book, "I Told You I Can Play" to kids and families at the hospital.

"I Told You I Can Play" tells the story of a 6-year-old boy overcoming adversity. Inspired by his own childhood experiences, the boy, also named Brian, loves football but must overcome being told he's too small and too young to play with the older kids. Each child at the event was given a copy of "I Told You I Can Play."

"The children at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and those across the nation go through so much more than any child should have to deal with," Jordan said. "And as St. Louis has always been a second home to me, having given me my chance to be a big-league baseball player, coming back here and spending time with the kids and families is something I cherish. And I am thrilled to be here with Aflac to deliver their special duck as they are a company that truly cares about families and giving back."

In addition to the book-reading session, children with cancer and sickle cell disease were provided with a My Special Aflac Duck, a robotic companion specially designed to help children with cancer and sickle cell cope with their diagnosis and treatments. Since 2018, Aflac has distributed nearly 50,000 of these robotic companions, complimentary, to children aged 3 and older diagnosed with pediatric cancer and sickle cell disease across the U.S., Japan and Northern Ireland. My Special Aflac Duck can offer a sense of comfort, joy and control to children through medical play, soundscapes and RFID emoji cards that help kids express their emotions through their duck. A three-year clinical study conducted with 160 patients at 8 hospitals across the U.S. and released in 2024, showed that My Special Aflac Duck helps reduce the stress and anxiety felt by patients and caregivers related to their treatments.1

"Visiting the children, families and staff at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital today was inspiring on so many levels, not the least of which was seeing how they care for each other during challenging times," said Virgil Miller. "Brian and My Special Aflac Duck not only brought smiles and laughter to kids who could use some additional attention today, but we know through research that the ducks will help each child and their caregivers now, tomorrow and long into the future, providing comfort and relief when they need it most."

The My Special Aflac Duck delivery event builds on Aflac's 31-year and more than $200 million commitment to further pediatric cancer and blood disorders research and treatment. The work is also a natural extension of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's commitment to continually improving upon the three elements of exceptional care: high-quality outcomes, excellent patient experience and a safe environment.

"We see every day what is possible when people choose to give back and rally around children and families who need them," said Sandy Koller, President of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation. "Aflac and Brian Jordan are wonderful examples of using their resources, their platform and their generosity to make a meaningful difference. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our patients and for bringing not only joy today, but comfort that will stay with these children throughout their care."

My Special Aflac Duck was named one of Time Magazine's 50 Best Inventions and named Best in Show at CES and South by Southwest in 2018.

Health care providers, support organizations and families can order a My Special Aflac Duck free of charge for children 3 years or older who have been diagnosed with cancer or sickle cell disease at Aflacchildhoodcancer.org.

Equifax introduces Healthcare Report™ Credential ID

New solution designed to help streamline healthcare provider onboarding and better safeguard patient care

ATLANTA, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Equifax® (NYSE:EFX) today announced the launch of Healthcare Report™ Credential ID, an automated screening solution designed to help streamline healthcare credentialing verification and the employment decisioning process. The solution provides primary source verification of healthcare professional license and certification data available alongside identity information from Equifax to help healthcare facilities accelerate provider onboarding and better safeguard patient safety.

The traditional process for verifying healthcare provider credentials typically relies on manual methods, which can place an administrative burden on staff and cause delays in onboarding critical patient-facing hires. With projected shortages of more than 106,000 physicians and 267,000 registered nurses in 2027 — which are expected to grow in the next decade — automated verifications can help organizations put qualified healthcare professionals to work faster and ultimately accelerate patient access to care.

"In a healthcare environment facing a high demand for doctors and nurses, hospitals face the daunting task of accelerating provider onboarding," said Bart Lautenbach, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Talent Solutions, Equifax Workforce Solutions. "The administrative burden of manual verifications can often stall the start dates of critical patient-facing hires. Healthcare Report Credential ID enables background screeners and healthcare employers to facilitate a more efficient onboarding process for healthcare employers, helping to ensure that facilities have the workforce they need to deliver trusted, higher-quality care."

Healthcare Report Credential ID provides license and certification verification information in a consumer report governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The final report output delivers essential license and certification data for candidate credentialing and decisioning. Where available, this data includes license type, status, and expiration date, providing broad scale, more comprehensive healthcare workforce coverage.

Healthcare Report Credential ID also includes Equifax identity data, which is provided alongside the license and certification verification consumer report. The solution checks the identity information provided by the applicant against the requested license or certification and Equifax identity data, which can potentially assist with fraud detection.

Healthcare Report Credential ID joins a suite of Equifax solutions designed to help streamline the pre-hire process. This includes tools for employment and education verifications, as well as solutions to help streamline the criminal background check process. For more information about Healthcare Report Credential ID, click here.

The lawsuit alleges InSync Staffing violated the California Labor Code by failing to pay its employees for all time worked.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles labor law attorneys at Zakay Law Group, APLC, filed a class action complaint against InSync Staffing, Inc., for allegedly failing to provide employees with timely, off-duty meal and rest periods. The class action lawsuit, Case No. 26STCV26237, is currently pending in the Los Angeles County Superior Court of the State of California. A copy of the complaint can be read here.

According to the lawsuit, InSync Staffing allegedly violated California Labor Code Sections §§ 201, 202, 203, 204, 210, 226, 226.7, 510, 512, 558, 1194, 1197, 1197.1, 1198, 1198.5 and 2802 by failing to: (1) pay minimum wages; (2) pay overtime wages; (3) provide required meal and rest periods; (4) provide accurate itemized wage statements; (5) pay wages when due; (6) reimburse employees for required expenses; and (7) permit inspection of employee records.

Under California law, every employer shall pay to each employee, on the established payday for the period involved, not less than the applicable minimum wage for all hours worked in the payroll period, whether the remuneration is measured by time, piece, commission, or otherwise. Hours worked is defined in the applicable Wage Order as "the time during which an employee is subject to the control of an employer and includes all the time the employee is suffered or permitted to work, whether or not required to do so." InSync Staffing allegedly required its employees to perform work before and after their scheduled shifts, as well as during their off-duty meal breaks. The lawsuit alleges InSync Staffing failed to compensate its employees for any of the time spent under the employer's control while working off-the-clock. As such, InSync Staffing allegedly failed to pay its employees the applicable minimum wage for all hours worked in a payroll period.

- For 2025, Shell entitlement share of production from these assets was 37,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. According to Shell's modeling, Na Kika and Coulomb will not be meaningful contributors to production by 2030.

- The deal includes buyers assuming certain decommissioning obligations and providing security with respect to such obligations.

- Shell Trading US Company will retain rights to offtake from Na Kika and Coulomb through negotiated agreements with the buyers.

- The Na Kika semi-submersible platform began producing in 2003. Production from the Coulomb tieback began in 2005.

- BP, as operator of Na Kika, holds the remaining 50% working interest in Na Kika.

- Shell proved reserves were 4.3 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe) at the end of 2025 for Na Kika and 7.2 million boe at the end of 2025 for Coulomb.

- Shell's Deep Water business is differentiated by its scale, efficiency, and infrastructure. Shell is the only international oil company with a leading portfolio position in both the Gulf of America and Brazil, two of the highest-margin and lowest-carbon production basins in the world.

- The US is a key market and a leading destination for Shell investment, with operations and interests in all 50 states. Shell is the leading deep-water operator and largest producer of oil and gas in the Gulf of America and one of the largest buyers of US LNG. Through our Trading & Supply network, we move US energy reliably—from power and low-carbon fuels to LNG and refined products—to customers nationwide and globally. Shell operates the largest branded fuel network in the United States, with about 12,000 Shell branded gas stations serving more than seven million customers daily. With more than 100 years in the US and more than 11,000 employees (as of January 23, 2026), Shell is delivering secure energy supplies and meeting the evolving needs of our customers today and into the future.

Shell's net carbon intensity and net-zero emissions target

In this press release we may refer to Shell's "net carbon intensity" (NCI), which includes Shell's carbon emissions from the production of our energy products, our suppliers' carbon emissions in supplying energy for that production and our customers' carbon emissions associated with their use of the energy products we sell. Shell's NCI also includes the emissions associated with the production and use of energy products produced by others which Shell purchases for resale. Shell only controls its own emissions. The use of the terms Shell's "net carbon intensity" or NCI is for convenience only and not intended to suggest these emissions are those of Shell plc or its subsidiaries.

Shell's operating plan and outlook are forecasted for a three-year period and ten-year period, respectively, and are updated every year. They reflect the current economic environment and what we can reasonably expect to see over the next three and ten years. However, Shell's operating plan and outlook cannot reflect our 2050 net-zero emissions target, as this target is outside our planning period.

75 Grants Support Local Wildfire Prevention, Preparedness and Emergency Response Efforts

OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- With wildfire season a year-round reality in California, sustained prevention and preparedness efforts remain essential for communities throughout the state. To strengthen these ongoing preparedness efforts, the California Fire Foundation (CFF), with support from The PG&E Corporation Foundation (PG&E Foundation), has awarded $1 million in wildfire safety grants to 75 local fire departments, fire agencies and nonprofit organizations in Northern and Central California.

This is the ninth year CFF and the PG&E Foundation have partnered to award grants to help communities bolster their disaster preparedness and response programs. This year, the PG&E Foundation committed an additional $50,000 to enhance the grant program and provide more community funding.

CFF reviewed over 200 submissions during a month-long application window and distributed the annual wildfire safety grants to agencies in high wildfire-risk areas. The grant awards come during National Preparedness Month, observed each September to raise awareness of preparing for disasters and emergencies.

The grants will be used to purchase personal protective and specialized equipment for firefighters, complete defensible space and vegetation management work, reduce fuels and hazards, and conduct fire safety public education and outreach. See the list of grant recipients.

The PG&E Foundation and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) support CFF's broader 2026 Wildfire Safety and Preparedness Program (WSPP) with $1.8 million in charitable funding. The Wildfire Safety Grants make up $1M of the total charitable funding provided. The program works to raise awareness about wildfire safety throughout California and deliver resources to underserved communities in high fire-risk areas. The grants to local organizations are a core component of the WSPP, funding also supports CFF's public safety education and outreach multimedia campaign in a variety of languages.

"California's firefighters and local agencies work every day to protect lives, homes and communities from a wildfire threat that does not follow a traditional season," said Darrell Roberts, Chair of the California Fire Foundation. "We congratulate these dedicated grantees for their continued work in preparedness and service, especially as warmer-than-normal conditions reinforce the need to remain vigilant across the state. For nearly a decade, our partnership with the PG&E Foundation has helped local agencies secure critical equipment, reduce hazardous vegetation, strengthen public education and better prepare the communities they serve."

Since 2018, 505 grantees that include fire departments and fire agencies statewide have received $6.5 million in direct funding through the grant program as part of WSPP, and each year the program receives more applications than the prior year. Funding targets specific communities identified as having extreme or elevated fire risk by the California Public Utilities Commission High Fire-Threat District map. PG&E and the PG&E Foundation have provided $12.25 million in total support for fire safety awareness through the WSPP since the partnership began, with more than half the funding supporting community-based grants. The charitable contribution is shareholder-funded, not paid for by PG&E customers.

"Safety and our customers are at the heart of our partnership with the California Fire Foundation," said Sumeet Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Executive Vice President of Energy Delivery. "Behind every grant is the ability to better protect families, support firefighters, and strengthen preparedness and response when it matters most. Disasters do not stop at city or county lines, and neither does our commitment to one another. Together, we are deepening local partnerships and building a stronger network dedicated to protecting the families, neighborhoods, and hometowns we are privileged to serve."

The WSPP focuses on two key areas to help keep communities safe:

- A wildfire safety campaign that features fire safety education, developed by CFF, in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Hmong to promote early evacuation during fires. The WSPP has worked diligently to overcome language barriers by developing and distributing in-language fire-safety messaging. This campaign includes advertising on radio, television and digital ads, as well as outdoor billboards in high fire-threat areas.

- A grant program administered by the CFF through an application process. The CFF awards grants to recipient fire departments, agencies and community groups in support of projects and programs focusing on wildfire/disaster prevention, preparedness and/or relief and recovery assistance.

How the WSPP Helps Communities

Grant funding this year supports projects benefitting 4.2 million residents in 36 counties and include::

- Over 2,000 pieces of personal protection equipment such as helmets, boots, gloves, goggles, and fire shelters

- Over 600 pieces of specialized equipment including water storage tanks, portable radios, headlamps, hoses/clamps/nozzles, chainsaws and gear packs

- Fuel reductions/vegetation management:

- Multiple acres of hazardous tree and brush removal including over 80 acres of vegetation thinning

- Hundreds of thousands of pounds of tree limbs, branches and other combustibles chipping and hauling

- Hundreds of prescribed fires or pile burns

- Multiple community safety projects supporting Fuel or Shaded Fuel Breaks and Ingress/Egress Routes

The CFF's Firefighters on Your Side program, also supported by PG&E, provides multilingual, culturally relevant fire safety messaging in both digital and print form, to assist the public in staying safe.
