Bipartisan legislation now heads to the President's desk ahead of the September 30 expiration

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, ALS Network celebrates the final congressional passage of the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies (ACT) for ALS Reauthorization Act of 2026 (H.R. 8205). Following passage by the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate approved the legislation, sending it to the President's desk for signature.

The bipartisan reauthorization effort was led by Representatives Mike Quigley and Ken Calvert in the House and Senators Lisa Murkowski and Chris Coons in the Senate. Once signed into law, it will extend key ACT for ALS programs through 2031, sustaining progress in ALS research, shared research infrastructure, and expanded access to investigational therapies.

ALS Network extends special gratitude to the advocates in our community, including people living with ALS, their families, and caregivers across the country. Their sustained engagement, personal stories, meetings, emails, phone calls, and heroic efforts kept the urgency of reauthorization before policymakers and helped build the bipartisan support needed for final passage.

ALS Network was deeply engaged throughout the reauthorization process, working directly with congressional leaders and national partners to help shape and advance the legislation. The organization provided policy recommendations, brought advocates to Capitol Hill, mobilized the ALS community, and participated in congressional briefings and public events supporting reauthorization. Sheri Strahl, MPH, MBA, president and CEO of ALS Network, also joined congressional champions at a Capitol Hill press conference to underscore the need for timely reauthorization.

"Final congressional passage is a major win for people living with ALS and their families, and a testament to what sustained, collective advocacy can accomplish," said Strahl. "ALS Network has been deeply engaged throughout this process, working directly with congressional leaders, shaping policy recommendations, bringing the lived experience of people with ALS to Capitol Hill, and mobilizing advocates across the country. We are proud of the role we played alongside partners throughout the ALS community, and are deeply grateful to Representatives Calvert and Quigley, Senators Murkowski and Coons, and every advocate whose persistence helped carry this legislation across the finish line."

ACT for ALS established a patient-centered approach to accelerate progress on two urgent fronts: advancing research and expanding access to investigational therapies for people who are unable to participate in traditional clinical trials. These programs are especially important for a rapidly progressive disease in which time is limited and effective treatment options remain few.

Final passage comes just before the current authorization is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2026. Reauthorization will help prevent disruption to programs that support evidence-generating expanded access, natural history and biomarker research, shared data resources, and coordination across the ALS research community. The law also supports work benefiting people with other rare neurodegenerative diseases.

ALS Network looks forward to the President signing the reauthorization into law so this critical work can continue without interruption.

Castrol launches 'Castrol CORE', an integrated thermal management offer for data centres

- Castrol CORE marks a shift from a product-led cooling proposition to an integrated thermal management offer, bringing together cooling technology, testing, lifecycle support, as well as new design capabilities

- Castrol's customer research shows growing demand for experienced partners that can simplify increasingly complex data centre cooling requirements

- Castrol CORE is built on cooling technology validated with leading chip and hardware manufacturers and backed by a global support network spanning 150+ countries

SINGAPORE, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to rising demand for AI and high-performance computing, Castrol today launched Castrol CORE, a new end-to-end offer for its data centre thermal management business. The offer is designed to help customers manage increasingly complex cooling requirements from early-stage design through to daily operations.

Castrol CORE marks a shift from Castrol's existing product-led cooling business towards an integrated, service-led approach that brings together a network of product, infrastructure, design and service partners, giving customers a single point of contact across the value chain rather than having to coordinate with multiple suppliers.

Under Castrol CORE, Castrol will work with customers earlier in the development of data centre infrastructure, adding new capabilities in design to its existing support for deployment, start-up, operation and maintenance. The move is based on Castrol's industry research which found growing demand for integrated thermal management solutions that reduce the complexity of working with multiple technologies and suppliers. The research also highlighted supply chain challenges and the high cost of failure as significant concerns for the industry.

Central to the offer are Castrol's cooling technologies, which have been tested and validated with leading chip and hardware manufacturers including NVIDIA and Intel. This gives customers confidence that the technology can keep pace with next-generation AI infrastructure. The offer is backed by Castrol's global technology and testing facilities – including labs in the UK, US, Germany and China, alongside joint laboratories across Asia and a network of service providers across more than 150 countries. The network enables continued on-ground testing, validation and monitoring throughout a facility's lifetime, and helping customers reduce the risk of costly downtime.

Peter Huang, Global President of Data Centre and Thermal Management at Castrol, said: "Customers are telling us they do not simply want another standalone product. They want experienced partners that can help them solve the complete thermal management challenge. We are bringing together proven technology, global reach and, critically, design expertise so we can work with customers at every stage of a project, giving them the peace of mind to focus on what's next."

In Asia Pacific, Castrol has built a regional data centre design team supported by local specialists, reflecting the pace at which the region is adopting new cooling infrastructure. This approach is already being tested in practice: Castrol has completed a proof-of-concept programme with a leading data centre operator in China and is now working with global operators on additional proof-of-concept projects.

Backed by more than 127 years of experience formulating fluids for mission-critical applications, Castrol CORE will initially focus on data centre cooling systems, while providing a platform for Castrol's thermal management offer to expand into other applications over time.

Hitron and Airties Enable ISPs to Monetize Underserved SMB Segment with Tailored Connectivity Platform
Image File

- Combines Hitron's advanced gateways with Airties Pro software to give ISPs a purpose-built connectivity solution with business-critical security, reliability, and operational features

- Hitron and Airties are working with several service providers to bring the joint solution to their small and medium business customers

- Airties and Hitron to showcase the joint solution at SCTE TechExpo26 in Atlanta, September 29 to October 1

CENTENNIAL, Colo. and PARIS, France, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the SCTE TechExpo26 in Atlanta, Hitron Technologies and Airties, a global leader of AI-driven software that improves the connectivity experience for ISPs' subscribers, announced a new strategic relationship aimed to help ISPs address the underserved small and medium business (SMB) segment. The joint solution pairs Hitron's high-performance SMB gateways with Airties Pro software, closing the market gap between residential broadband and enterprise-grade systems. Hitron and Airties are currently working with several service providers to bring the joint solution to their SMB customers.

Traditional Wi-Fi connectivity platforms have left SMBs choosing between solutions that do not address their needs. Residential-grade broadband is low-cost and easy to operate, but lacks the security, network segregation, and business continuity that SMBs require. Enterprise-grade solutions offer strong performance and security, but come with high cost, complexity, and long deployment timelines that are often over-engineered for smaller environments. The combination of Airties Pro and Hitron gives SMBs critical business capabilities with simplicity and affordability, while enabling ISPs to effectively address an untapped monetization opportunity.

"SMBs represent one of the largest and most underserved monetization opportunities for ISPs and closing the product gap between residential and enterprise platforms is a strategic imperative," said Metin Taskin, CEO and co-founder of Airties. "By combining Hitron's high-performance gateways with Airties Pro, we're giving operators a purpose-built platform to help unlock meaningful new revenue streams by providing their SMB customers with the kind of reliability, visibility, and security their businesses require."

"Hitron has spent years perfecting gateway performance for demanding environments, and pairing our hardware with Airties Pro's software gives leading-edge ISPs a purpose-built connectivity platform built specifically for the SMB market," said Greg Fisher, President and CTO at Hitron. "Together with Airties, we're giving operators the performance foundation and the intelligence they need to turn an underserved segment into a meaningful new revenue stream and market differentiator."

SMBs: The Untapped Market Opportunity for ISPs

According to research from the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA), 96% of SMBs believe technology is key to meeting their business objectives; 46% are increasing their technology spend year over year; and 100% of SMBs said an internet outage would halt operations or cause significant revenue loss1. Yet choosing the right solution is not straightforward: 43% of SMBs said they spend significant effort researching multiple providers and offers before settling on a connectivity solution, and the top features they look for are network separation, pervasive coverage, and visibility into staff internet use.2

To meet these needs and unlock new revenue streams in this fast-growing, underserved segment, ISPs must offer capabilities beyond connectivity, while retaining the user-friendliness of home Wi-Fi. With Hitron and Airties, ISPs can sell a tailored solution for SMBs that increases ARPU relative to residential broadband because of added business-critical features, while lowering cost-to-serve through remote monitoring and troubleshooting.

Hitron and Airties: A Purpose-Built Platform for SMBs

Hitron's advanced broadband gateways provide the high-performance connectivity foundation for SMB environments, while Airties Pro builds on that foundation with business-grade networking, security, and rich data insights. The combined solution provides secure, multi-layer access for SMBs, ISPs, and channel partners to remotely manage network performance and insights across devices and applications. SMBs can easily configure secure networks for employees and guests and create their own branded Wi-Fi portals. An intuitive app enables zero-touch installation and self-care checks for easy operation and maintenance without requiring IT expertise, while AI-driven optimization works in the background to resolve issues before the business owner notices. ISPs also gain population-level visibility across their SMB customer base to help refine their service offerings and features.

Airties and Hitron will showcase the joint solution at SCTE TechExpo26 in Atlanta, Georgia, taking place September 29 to October 1 within the Hitron Americas booth #I1528. The China (Guangzhou) International Building Decoration Fair

Sep 28, 2026, 22:43 ET

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2026 China (Guangzhou) International Building Decoration Fair (CBD Fair Guangzhou) concluded at the Canton Fair Complex, with exhibitors growing despite broader market pressures. Overseas attendance surpassed 11,473, up 33.4% year on year, with visitors from 147 countries and regions. Building on this momentum, the fair is now preparing for its 2027 edition with a stronger focus on industry transformation and global connections.

Navigating the challenges of industry transformation

The home furnishing and building decoration industry is entering a new phase as the property-driven growth model gives way to a market increasingly shaped by renovation and upgrading. While export policy support and growing emerging markets are creating opportunities, challenges remain, including the early stage of brand globalization, mismatches between supply and procurement needs, and incomplete service chains.

Chen Penghan, Sales Head of CBD Fair, said new opportunities should be explored through renovation, quality upgrades, intelligent innovation, and broader channel development.

The 2027 Focus

To adapt to these changes, CBD Fair Guangzhou is accelerating its transformation into an integrated platform serving both domestic and international trade. For the 2027 edition, it will bring together brands with stronger international competitiveness while advancing its "CBD World-Connect" initiative to attract buyers from emerging markets and strengthen year-round, full-chain and multi-channel services and matchmaking.

The CBD Fair Guangzhou 2027 will focus on organizing 21 exhibition halls into three more concentrated sectors.

The INTERIOR sector will address renovation and better living under China's "Good House" model, covering areas including metal customization, integrated home solutions, partial renovation, senior-friendly upgrades and full-lifecycle living scenarios. It will also bring together major industry clusters across China.

The EXTERIOR sector will expand into outdoor categories such as shading, aluminum products, wood-plastic composites and integrated housing, while integrating entrance doors, windows and commercial projects. Heritage restoration will also be introduced around rural revitalization, cultural tourism and preservation.

The MATECH sector will further bring international and Chinese players together, with a new focus on smart hardware, smart-home integration and CMF solutions. Overseas business matchmaking will also extend beyond the exhibition period.

Through these initiatives, the 2027 fair aims to strengthen year-round industry connections while opening more opportunities across domestic and global markets.

Join CBD Fair Guangzhou 2027 from July 8-11, 2027, to connect with the industry and explore new business opportunities.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- TruTrade, a U.S.-based software company specializing in automated trading technology, is introducing a new era of automated trading designed to give retail traders access to sophisticated technology without the complexity traditionally associated with professional trading systems.

As financial markets and trading technology continue to evolve, retail traders are increasingly looking beyond conventional approaches that require constant chart monitoring, manual execution and active position management. TruTrade has developed its technology around a different approach: allowing software to handle key components of the trading process automatically.

TruTrade's automated trading technology is designed to execute and manage trades based on predefined parameters, reducing the need for users to continuously monitor markets throughout the trading session.

"The way people interact with the financial markets is changing," said Brian Nutt, Co-Founder of TruTrade. "Technology has reached a point where sophisticated automation no longer needs to be limited to professional trading environments. Our goal is to make automated trading technology easier for retail traders to access, understand and use."

Rather than requiring users to manually identify every potential opportunity and manage each position themselves, TruTrade's software is built to automate the trading process from execution through position management.

The company has focused heavily on simplifying the user experience while continuing to develop the underlying technology. This approach is designed to serve traders with varying levels of market experience, including individuals who may not have the time or desire to spend an entire trading session watching charts. TruTrade also provides prospective clients with access to recorded trading demonstrations, allowing them to see the company's technology operating during actual market sessions.

As automated trading technology continues to evolve, TruTrade remains focused on bringing sophisticated trading capabilities once associated with professional trading environments to the retail market.

Sharpa Unveils Three Flagship Products: D01 Robot, W02 Dexterous Hand and AE01 Data Glove at IROS 2026

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharpa, an AI robotics company focused on dexterous manipulation, today unveiled three flagship products at the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) 2026: D01, an integrated robot built for dexterous manipulation; W02, a compact, lightweight dexterous hand with full-hand tactile sensing; and AE01, a haptic exoskeleton data glove for teleoperation and data capture.

The new lineup addresses three connected needs in robotics development: executing coordinated physical tasks, sensing and controlling contact with objects, and collecting human demonstrations to support robot learning. Together, the products expand Sharpa's hardware portfolio for developing robots that can use everyday tools and work in environments designed for people.

D01: the First Integrated Tactile-sensing Robot Built for Dexterous Manipulation

D01 brings together Sharpa Wave dexterous hands, seven-degree-of-freedom arms and whole-body electronic skin.

Built to combine strength, speed and precision, D01 offers an approximately 1:1 arm payload-to-weight ratio, a maximum end-effector speed exceeding 10.5 meters per second, a communication frequency of 1,000 Hz and end-effector repeatability of 0.2 millimeters. Human-scale spherical wrist joints support manipulation in workspaces and around tools designed for people.

D01's electronic skin extends contact sensing across the body, with a tactile sampling rate of 100 Hz and force resolution of 0.2 newtons. This additional feedback enables the robot to detect physical contact across its body and supports responsive interaction with objects and its surroundings.

W02: a Next-generation, Fully tactile, Ultra-compact and Lightweight Dexterous Hand

Building on Sharpa's W01 dexterous hand, W02 combines 21 active degrees of freedom with a compact structure weighing less than 750 grams. Its smaller, lighter design reduces loading on the robot arm and supports integration into workspaces built around human-hand dimensions.

W02 combines Sharpa's proprietary Dynamic Tactile Array at the fingertips with electronic skin across the fingers and palm. Fingertip sensors provide a force sensing range of 5 millinewtons to 30 newtons and spatial resolution of 1 millimeter. The electronic skin extends tactile coverage with a force sensing range of 0.1–20 newtons and spatial resolution of 5 millimeters.

The hand's zero-gap grasping capability supports the handling of slender objects such as chopsticks and fine cords. IP54-rated protection against dust and water splashes supports use in varied working environments. These features are designed to help robots handle everyday objects and tools while maintaining tactile feedback throughout the interaction.

AE01: a High-fidelity Haptic Exoskeleton Data Glove

AE01 is a high-fidelity haptic exoskeleton data glove designed for robot teleoperation and egocentric data capture. Its 22-degree-of-freedom design incorporates 22 encoders to capture joint motion, providing movement data for real-time robot control and the collection of manipulation demonstrations.

AE01 provides 256 levels of dynamic vibrotactile feedback at each fingertip, giving operators tactile cues to support adjustments during teleoperation. It also offers fingertip position repeatability of less than 1 millimeter.

The glove requires no additional user calibration and is designed to resist environmental interference, simplifying setup and supporting data collection across different operating environments. By combining motion capture with haptic feedback, AE01 gives researchers and developers a practical interface for guiding robotic actions and collecting training data.

Advancing Dexterous Manipulation to Real-World Tasks

With D01, W02 and AE01, Sharpa is expanding the tools available to develop, control and train robots for tasks involving sustained physical contact. The portfolio supports the company's broader goal of making robotic manipulation useful across increasingly complex workflows, from handling individual objects to completing connected tasks in real-world environments.

Visitors can explore Sharpa's latest products at Booth 514, David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, through Sept. 30, 2026.

Chasing Mulan: Three Encounters with "Mulan"
Image File
Original HTML

NINGBO, China, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A report from Yongpai

On the evening of September 18, local time, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York, the 2,586-seat auditorium was sold out. On stage was the Chinese dance drama "Mulan," presented by Ningbo Performance & Arts Group: bronze mirrors and suits of armor appeared one after another, beacon fires rose, conscription orders arrived, and Mulan cut her hair before the mirror before setting out for the army. Amid the waves of applause, Professor Emily Wilcox of the College of William & Mary, a scholar of Chinese ethnic dance, found herself recalling the first time she saw "Mulan" three years earlier.

In 2002, while still a student at Harvard University, Wilcox first set foot in China with the Harvard Dance Group; she later pursued further training in Chinese ethnic dance at the Beijing Dance Academy. Over the years, she has traveled back and forth between China and the United States, writing books, giving lectures and hosting salons, bringing Chinese ethnic dance and the culture behind it into American university classrooms and international academic circles.

In September 2023, the dance drama "Mulan," produced by Ningbo Performance & Arts Group, crossed the Pacific for its American debut, performing six shows at the Boch Center in Boston and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. At the time, Wilcox was co-hosting a lecture on Chinese dance culture with the local Xuejuan Dance Ensemble. The students proposed, "Let's talk about dance culture by day and see the show in the theater by night," so she drove three hours to Washington. As the curtain rose, solos, pas de deux and ensemble dances unfolded in turn. A group of Chinese-American girls watched, rapt, their faces filled with wonder and awe. Among them, a girl named Ziying resolved to devote herself to studying Chinese ethnic dance; a year later, she traveled to China and became an international student at the Beijing Dance Academy.

For Wilcox herself, however, Mulan remained an Eastern cultural specimen viewed from a distance. She understood the choreography and the storytelling, but had not yet entered the character's spiritual core. Over the years, she has spent nearly every winter and summer break in China, serving as a visiting professor at Minzu University of China, leading groups of American students to Liaoning, Inner Mongolia and beyond, seizing every opportunity to see ethnic dance dramas and exchange ideas with experts on profound Chinese culture.

In April 2026, as China Performing Arts Group and Ningbo Performance & Arts Group prepared "Mulan" for another overseas tour, they invited Wilcox to write a letter of recommendation. To write it well, Wilcox—then a visiting scholar at Fudan University—bought a ticket and saw the show a second time in Shanghai. This time, she stood on Chinese soil, surrounded by the native cultural context: she understood that the orphan Rou'er was no superfluous subplot but a pointer to the wounds war inflicts on ordinary people; the bronze mirrors recurring on stage carried Mulan's homesickness and her struggle with identity. Yet she had not fully grasped the deeper meaning behind some of the newly adapted plotlines.

Two viewings, two blanks left unfilled—setting the stage for a third encounter in New York.

On September 18, Wilcox was invited to give a pre-show lecture before the performance. When the invitation first arrived, she felt some hesitation: her two previous viewings had not fully unlocked the work. But then she reconsidered—this drama, which has won major awards in China, must contain expressions worth exploring in depth; and she had always hoped to use her expertise to help American audiences cross the cultural divide and build a staircase of understanding.

To prepare the lecture, she threw herself into the work: tracing the evolution of the Mulan story across 1,500 years of versions, studying interviews with choreographers Han Zhen and Zhou Liya, poring over Chinese dance reviews and academic articles, and carefully dissecting every adaptive stroke. She finally understood the details that had once puzzled her: on the battlefield, when Mulan lets down her hair bun to reveal her female identity and her comrades still choose to respect and follow her into battle, it is a distinctly modern expression of womanhood unique to this version; the ending departs from the traditional trope of "triumphant return and marriage"—the general dies on the battlefield, and Mulan completes her spiritual standing alone, returning the character's fate to the individual herself.

After the lecture, a white-haired elderly woman came up to thank her, saying the talk had finally helped her truly understand this Eastern dance drama; sisters who had once lived in Nanjing found their curiosity about Chinese culture rekindled by the performance. The barriers of culture quietly dissolved—in a lecture, a dance drama, and a conversation between people.

Taking her seat at Lincoln Center for the third time, Wilcox finally truly understood. As the revolving stage turned, the tenderness of the boudoir and the brutality of the battlefield flashed in alternation. Mulan was no longer merely an ancient heroine. "This dance drama reshapes Mulan from a one-dimensional hero into a multifaceted, vivid ordinary person. It maintains a prudent reflection on war and a delicate portrayal of women's circumstances—this carries strong relevance in today's world," Wilcox said of the shock she felt on her third viewing.

"Amity between peoples holds the key to sound relations between states, and amity between peoples is built on mutual understanding." Wilcox's research confirms exactly this: dance is a universal language of the world. It needs no translation—the body itself is the shared language.

As the applause at Lincoln Center faded, Wilcox walked out of the theater with the crowd, recalling the light shimmering in the eyes of those Chinese-American girls three years before. Three encounters with Mulan—from observing, to puzzlement, to deep empathy; from interpreting a character on stage to seeing the boundless possibilities of mutual learning between two civilizations. The story of Mulan flows on, and so does cultural understanding. Perhaps, to truly understand a story, sometimes you need three years, three cities, and to first become part of the story yourself.
