SAP Success Connect 2026: Autonomous HCM Shifts the Conversation from Automation to Workforce Reinvention
Image File
Original HTML

After attending SAP SuccessFactors’ post-Success Connect Analyst Exchange, one word stayed with me more than autonomous. It was redesign.

There was plenty of AI to discuss. SAP outlined its expanding portfolio of Joule Assistants and agents, its vision for Autonomous HCM, workforce planning capabilities, the planned acquisition of TechWolf and a broader product strategy increasingly organized around business outcomes instead of individual modules. But the larger message was not simply that AI can automate more HR work. It was that organizations now have an opportunity, and almost a requirement, to reconsider how the work itself should be structured.

That difference matters because organizations have spent many years digitizing processes that were designed for a different workforce, a different technology environment and, in many cases, a different business reality. SAP’s framing for Autonomous HCM centers on three connected ideas: automate work to create capacity, redesign work to maximize the potential of a strengthened workforce and reinvent talent to close capability gaps and prepare for what comes next.

I believe the middle of that progression, redesign, may ultimately determine how much value organizations actually realize from the other two.

Automation Is the Beginning, Not the Business Case

SAP’s own Future of Work Research Lab provides some useful context. According to research shared by SAP, 72% of executives believe organizations claiming to transform work with AI are primarily automating existing processes rather than fundamentally redesigning how the work gets done. At the same time, 88% say redesigning work and roles creates significant enterprise value, with HR positioned as the No. 1 owner of that work.

That is an important gap. Automating an inefficient process may make it faster, but it does not necessarily make the process better. The more pressing questions still exist: Which tasks still need to exist? Which decisions should remain human? Where can AI improve speed or consistency? Where does human judgment add value that technology cannot? And if roles change because of that redistribution of work, what capabilities will employees and leaders need next? Those questions move AI from a technology conversation into a workforce and operating-model conversation.

Brandon Hall Group’s HR Outlook 2026 describes this year as the Year of Progression, where AI crosses the threshold from tool to teammate. Our research similarly points to a workplace where AI adoption, skills transformation, workforce planning and human connection can no longer be addressed sequentially. Organizations have to develop those capabilities together. SAP’s Autonomous HCM direction fits squarely into that challenge.

The Real Differentiator May Be Context

The number of AI agents in an HCM environment will continue to grow. That alone will eventually become less interesting. What matters more is what those agents understand.

SAP is positioning Joule Assistants and Joule Work around access to connected workforce data, business processes and enterprise context. Publicly announced assistants cover recruiting, onboarding, payroll, HR operations, learning and career development, among other areas. SAP’s 2H 2026 release describes these not as isolated AI tools but as assistants working across applications and processes to support end-to-end HR work and decision-making.

That is an important distinction. An AI assistant that knows an employee’s skills is useful. An AI environment that can understand those skills alongside business demand, workforce capacity, financial constraints, contingent labor, succession risk and the work that actually needs to get done can support an elevated decision-making level. Context is what turns information into intelligence.

That principle applies well beyond SAP. Organizations increasingly have more workforce data than they know what to do with. The competitive question is becoming whether they can connect those signals quickly enough to make better decisions.

Workforce Planning Is Where the Strategy Gets Very Real

One of the developments that caught my attention most was SAP’s Workforce Planning Assistant. SAP says the capability will bring together workforce, contingent labor and financial data from SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Fieldglass and SAP Cloud ERP to help HR and business leaders forecast workforce needs and evaluate the appropriate combination of hiring, reskilling, redeployment and external talent. SAP News

That is exactly where workforce planning needs to go. From my own experience as a former CFO in healthcare, workforce planning was never an HR-only exercise. A vacancy did not remain a vacancy on an HR report. It could quickly become overtime, agency expense, schedule disruption, manager strain, employee burnout, service risk and eventually another retention problem. Those decisions also rarely had only one solution. Do we hire? Can we develop someone internally? Can we redeploy talent from another area? Do we need temporary labor? Is the underlying job designed correctly? Are we addressing a short-term staffing problem or a longer-term capability gap?

The ability to bring workforce and financial information into the same decision environment can help organizations have a much more mature and relevant conversation about talent investment.

“From a CFO seat, workforce planning was never simply about headcount. A vacancy could become overtime, agency spend, burnout, service risk and another retention problem. The value of AI is not simply predicting the gap. It is helping leaders see the tradeoffs early enough to decide whether to hire, reskill, redeploy or redesign the work before the cost shows up somewhere else.”

— Dr. Marline C. Duroseau, CPA, Managing Director, HR and Leadership Development, Brandon Hall Group™

That is specifically relevant for frontline-intensive industries such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, manufacturing and transportation, where workforce availability can affect business performance almost immediately.

Skills Intelligence Has to Reflect the Work People Actually Do

SAP’s planned acquisition of TechWolf is another development worth watching. The transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval, is intended to bring TechWolf’s work and skills intelligence into the SAP SuccessFactors ecosystem. TechWolf creates a continuously updated view across the work employees perform, the skills they have and use, and external labor-market information.

What interests me here is not simply the acquisition. It is the problem SAP is attempting to solve. Organizations have been talking about becoming skills-based for years, but a skills strategy is only as useful as the information underneath it. Static job descriptions, self-reported profiles or outdated competency libraries cannot by themselves tell leaders how work is changing in real time.

If AI is changing tasks inside jobs, then organizations need a much more dynamic understanding of: What work is actually being performed? Which skills are being applied? Which capabilities are becoming more important? Where can existing employees move? And where does the organization genuinely need to acquire new talent? That intelligence becomes foundational for workforce planning, internal mobility, learning and development, succession and organizational design.

The boundaries among those functions are already becoming less meaningful. Brandon Hall Group’s research similarly points to talent acquisition, talent management, development and workforce planning converging into a more connected talent ecosystem rather than operating as separate HR processes.

Autonomous HCM Still Requires Very Human Leadership

The word autonomous can easily create the impression that people become less important. I believe the opposite is more likely to happen. As technology handles more analysis, administration and coordination, leaders will carry greater responsibility for judgment, governance, interpretation and change. Someone still has to decide whether an AI recommendation makes sense in the context of the business. Someone still has to explain why a role is changing. Someone has to prepare employees for new expectations, determine where reskilling is realistic, address fear and resistance, protect fairness and ensure that efficiency does not become the only definition of success.

Automation can create capacity but it cannot determine what an organization should do with that capacity. That remains leadership work. This is also why organizations should resist measuring autonomous HR mainly by the number of agents deployed or transactions automated. The more meaningful measures will include whether decisions happen faster, whether administrative costs decline, whether managers gain useful capacity, whether hiring and internal movement improve, whether capability gaps close and whether the workforce becomes more adaptable without sacrificing trust.

That is where the ROI conversation becomes much more interesting.

Organizing Around Outcomes Is a Meaningful Shift

Another part of SAP’s message that deserves attention is its movement away from thinking about innovation strictly through individual products or modules. SAP says it is gradually organizing innovation around the customer outcomes organizations are trying to achieve, using connected data, workflows and processes across the SAP portfolio. The company also plans to co-innovate with customers to define, validate and measure the relationship between workforce decisions and business results. SAP News

That direction makes sense because workforce problems rarely care about software boundaries. A retention problem may involve compensation, manager effectiveness, scheduling, development and career mobility. A staffing problem can involve recruiting, contingent labor, workforce planning, finance and learning.

Tumor Ablation Market Set to Surge to US$ 1.8 Billion by 2031, Growing at 11.6% CAGR: Wissen Research
Image File
Original HTML

SHERIDAN, Wyo., Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The global tumor ablation market is valued at USD 1.04 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach USD 1.8 billion by 2031, growing at a CAGR of 11.6% over the forecast period (2026–2031), according to a new study by Wissen Research.

Tumor ablation destroys targeted tumor tissue with heat, cold, or other forms of energy while trying to spare the healthy tissue around it. In percutaneous procedures, a physician threads a probe through the skin and into the tumor under imaging guidance, which lowers the risks that come with standard surgery. For patients who are not candidates for surgery, or for whom preserving organ function matters, it is an increasingly important option.

The demand starts with patient numbers. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) counted about 20 million new cancer cases and 9.7 million cancer deaths worldwide in 2022, and expects the figure to rise significantly by 2050. A growing population of patients with solid tumors is driving demand for localized treatments that can work alongside surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy or, in specific cases, replace them.

The Probe Is Only Part of the System: Imaging and Planning Software Now Sit Beside the Energy Source

Tumor ablation is moving away from standalone energy delivery devices toward integrated systems. Modern platforms increasingly combine the energy source with CT, ultrasound, MRI, navigation, temperature sensors, and treatment planning software, so the physician can place the probe precisely, watch the treated zone, and plan how far the treatment should extend. CT and ultrasound help position the probe, MRI gives detailed images of the treated area, and software lets the physician define tumor borders before treatment begins. The report describes an industry that is becoming more technology- and software-oriented, with competition shifting toward more efficient image-guided tumor ablation, tighter control of the procedure, and larger, more predictable ablation zones.

Precision matters because physics can work against the treatment. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) notes that radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, and cryoablation are used for localized liver cancer, but tumor size and location can limit how well thermal ablation works. When a tumor sits close to a large blood vessel, flowing blood can carry heat away from the treatment area, a heat-sink effect that reduces effectiveness.

Beyond Heat: Freezing, Focused Ultrasound, and Electrical Pulses Widen the Toolkit

Radiofrequency ablation remained a leading technology in 2025 on the strength of its long clinical track record and wide availability, and the NCI lists it among the local treatment options for liver malignancies. Microwave ablation is gradually gaining ground because it can offer higher temperatures, larger ablation areas, and simultaneous treatment through multiple devices, while cryoablation, which destroys tissue by freezing and thawing, is getting stronger in kidney and prostate cancer.

Other approaches are broadening what can be treated. Irreversible electroporation (IRE) uses short electrical pulses instead of heat to disrupt cells, and is being explored where conventional heating is difficult, such as near sensitive structures. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) delivers energy through concentrated ultrasound signals. Both remain more specialized than the established thermal methods, and the report notes that the state of the technology and the available evidence vary from one application to another, even as ablation spreads beyond the liver and kidney to other solid tumors.

What's Fueling Growth in the Tumor Ablation Market

- A larger cancer patient population: More patients with solid tumors are creating demand for localized treatments alongside surgery, radiotherapy, and systemic therapy.

- Preference for minimally invasive procedures: Ablation can be performed through the skin, which makes it an option when surgery is not possible or when treatment must avoid harming surrounding healthy tissue.

- Wider use of image-guided techniques: CT, ultrasound, and MRI allow precise probe placement, treatment planning, and monitoring of the ablation zone.

- Better ablation equipment: Improvements in microwave equipment and electrodes, cryoprobes, HIFU systems, and electroporation technology give physicians finer control over tumor destruction.

- More tumor types in play: Ablation is being applied or researched in liver, kidney, lung, prostate, breast, bone, and other localized tumors.

- Demand for organ-sparing treatment: Destroying a localized tumor requires less extensive intervention and preserves nearby healthy tissue.

Challenges Facing the Tumor Ablation Market

The central challenge is destroying the whole tumor while protecting what is next to it. Results depend on the tumor's size, shape, location, and tissue properties, and on how close it sits to vital structures. Tumors that are not fully destroyed can survive at the treatment margin, raising the risk of local recurrence and the need for repeat procedures or additional treatment. Tumors near bile ducts, airways, nerves, and intestines can force physicians to reduce the energy they deliver, and inconsistent probe placement can leave tumor tissue behind. That is why imaging, probe positioning, treatment planning, and monitoring have to be clear and dependable.

Adoption has its own hurdles. Using advanced imaging technology involves regulatory requirements, the availability of clinical evidence, and the level of physician training, and technologies such as irreversible electroporation, HIFU, and laser ablation are still developing.

Recent Strategic Developments in the Tumor Ablation Market

In August 2026, IceCure Medical Ltd. of Israel entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Scovas Medical for its ProSense cryoablation systems in the Netherlands. The agreement expanded ProSense commercialization for breast cancer and interventional oncology, while the Netherlands-based THERMAC trial advanced to Phase III, supporting further clinical adoption of cryoablation.

In May 2026, AngioDynamics, Inc. of the United States announced that Palmetto GBA had issued a final Medicare coverage determination for irreversible electroporation using the NanoKnife System for selected prostate cancer cases and metastatic colorectal cancer to the liver. The coverage took effect July 5, 2026, supporting broader reimbursement and patient access to non-thermal tumor ablation.

One development opens a new market for cryoablation, and the other makes a non-thermal technique easier for patients to access.

Key Insights from Tumor Ablation Market Analysis

- Radiofrequency ablation held a leading position by technology type in 2025, supported by extensive clinical experience, wide availability, and its use in liver, kidney, and lung tumors.

The article outlines how paper choices affect color, texture, and longevity in reproductions of artwork.

RUSTON, La., Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What factors matter most when selecting materials for high-quality art reproduction? HelloNation has published the piece and provides the answer in an article exploring how to choose paper for fine art prints, with guidance from Henry McCoy of Fine Line Supply Co.

The HelloNation article explains how to choose paper for fine art prints by balancing visual goals with technical considerations. It describes how different types of paper influence the way artwork reproduction prints are perceived, from sharp detail to soft, expressive finishes. Smooth surfaces tend to highlight fine lines and clarity, while more textured options can create depth and a tactile feel that complements certain styles.

The article emphasizes that paper weight plays a key role in presentation. Heavier paper weight often gives artwork reproduction prints a more substantial, professional feel, while lighter paper can make them appear more casual. According to the article, choosing the best paper for fine art prints involves evaluating how the weight contributes to both durability and the overall impression of the piece.

Paper finish is another important factor discussed in the article. A glossy paper finish can enhance vibrancy and contrast, making colors stand out more prominently. Matte paper finish, on the other hand, reduces glare and softens tones, which may be better suited for certain display environments. The article notes that understanding paper finish helps artists maintain control over how their work is viewed under different lighting conditions.

Paper texture is also highlighted as a defining factor in choosing paper for fine art prints. The article describes how subtle or pronounced paper texture can change the personality of artwork reproduction prints. For example, a watercolor-style paper texture can introduce a painterly quality, while smooth photo paper delivers a crisp, precise appearance. Matching paper texture to the original artwork helps preserve the intended emotional impact.

Longevity is a key concern addressed in the article, particularly for artists creating pieces meant to last. Archival-quality paper is recommended to prevent yellowing and deterioration over time. The article explains that selecting archival-quality paper ensures that artwork reproduction prints maintain their integrity for years, making it an essential factor in determining the best paper for fine art prints.

Color accuracy is another critical topic covered in the article. It explains that different papers can subtly shift hues, making test prints an important step in the process. By evaluating color accuracy across various paper types, artists and printers can make adjustments that preserve the original vision. The article notes that attention to color accuracy is essential when choosing paper for fine art prints.

The article also discusses the importance of testing samples before making a final decision. Variables such as paper weight, paper texture, paper finish, and lighting conditions can all influence the final result. Taking time to compare options helps artists ensure the selected paper enhances both the visual quality and longevity of their work.

In summary, the HelloNation article presents a thoughtful process for choosing paper for fine art prints that combines technical knowledge with artistic judgment. By considering paper weight, texture, finish, archival-quality paper, and color accuracy, artists can produce reproduction prints that reflect their original intent while maintaining durability.

The article outlines how moisture control and mold inspection help protect indoor air quality in New Jersey homes.

MEDFORD, NJ., Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What makes crawl space mold a concern for homeowners in New Jersey homes? HelloNation has published an article that provides clear guidance and practical answers to this important question.

The HelloNation article explains that crawl space mold is often hidden beneath homes but can significantly impact indoor air quality. In areas like Burlington County and Medford, moisture commonly builds up due to humidity, poor ventilation, or water intrusion. This damp environment creates ideal conditions for crawl space mold growth, allowing spores to spread upward into living spaces and pose health risks to residents.

The article notes that many homeowners in New Jersey may not immediately detect crawl space mold because it develops in dark, confined areas. Instead, early warning signs often include musty odors, visible staining on insulation, or damp wood surfaces. These indicators suggest that mold inspection should be performed promptly. Routine mold inspection helps identify problems before they worsen and supports better indoor air quality throughout the home.

Seasonal weather patterns in Burlington County and Medford are also discussed as contributing factors. The article describes how spring rains, snowmelt, and humid summers increase moisture levels beneath homes. Without proper moisture control, these conditions allow crawl space mold to spread more easily. The article emphasizes that moisture-control strategies, such as vapor barriers, improved drainage, and ventilation systems, are essential for reducing long-term mold risks.

Health risks linked to crawl space mold are another key focus of the article. It explains that mold spores can affect indoor air quality and trigger symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, and eye irritation. Individuals with asthma or allergies may experience stronger reactions, though even healthy individuals can be impacted over time. For homeowners in New Jersey homes, maintaining indoor air quality is closely tied to addressing crawl space mold and ensuring proper moisture control.

The article also highlights the importance of professional mold inspection when crawl space mold is suspected. Specialists can evaluate moisture levels, identify contamination, and recommend safe removal methods. Crawl Space Experts, such as Brian Lepore of Perfect Basement LLC, based in Medford, are referenced in the article as part of the broader discussion on how proper mold inspection and remediation support healthier living environments. The article explains that professional guidance helps ensure moisture control measures are effective and long-lasting.

In addition to remediation, the article describes preventative steps that homeowners in Burlington County can take. Regular monitoring of crawl spaces, especially after heavy rainfall, helps identify standing water or condensation early. Consistent moisture control reduces the likelihood of recurring crawl space mold and supports better indoor air quality year-round. These proactive steps are presented as essential for protecting both the home's structure and its occupants' well-being.

The HelloNation article concludes that crawl space mold is not only a maintenance issue but also a health risk to families across New Jersey. By prioritizing mold inspection, improving moisture control, and staying aware of environmental conditions in Medford and the surrounding Burlington County areas, homeowners can reduce exposure and maintain safer indoor air quality.

Is Crawl Space Mold Dangerous for Homeowners in New Jersey? features insights from Brian Lepore, Crawl Space Expert of Medford, New Jersey, in HelloNation.

LBT Unveils New 30 MeV Medical Cyclotron Platform at EANM 2026

VIENNA, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Longevous Beamtech (LBT) unveiled its new LB-30 series 30 MeV medical cyclotron platform at the 39th Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM 2026), held at the Austria Center Vienna from October 17–21.

The new platform was officially introduced during a dedicated product launch event at EANM, extending LBT's medical cyclotron portfolio into the 30 MeV energy range and opening new possibilities for radionuclide production and radiopharmaceutical research.

Expanding the Scope of Radionuclide Production

As radiopharmaceutical development advances, the requirements for radionuclide production are becoming increasingly diverse. In addition to established PET isotopes used in routine clinical practice, research institutions and radiopharmaceutical companies are exploring a broader range of radionuclides for diagnostic, therapeutic and research applications.

The LB-30 was developed to address these evolving production requirements. The platform features multi-particle compatibility, continuously variable-energy beam extraction, high-efficiency beam transport, clean vacuum technology and flexible target station solutions.

This combination enables greater flexibility in selecting particle type, beam energy and target configuration for different irradiation requirements, supporting a wider range of radionuclide production routes and research applications.

The LB-30 also represents a further step in the development of LBT's cyclotron portfolio. While the company's existing systems serve routine clinical isotope production and multi-isotope applications, the new 30 MeV platform extends these capabilities toward higher-energy production, broader isotope development and advanced research.

From Cyclotron Technology to Integrated Production Solutions

Alongside the development of its cyclotron platforms, LBT has continued to build capabilities across the radionuclide and radiopharmaceutical production workflow.

Its portfolio includes target systems, radiopharmaceutical synthesis and dispensing solutions, hot cells and quality control solutions, together with engineering, installation, training and lifecycle support.

This integrated approach allows production facilities to be configured around different isotope requirements, production volumes, research objectives and future development plans, serving hospitals, radiopharmaceutical producers and research institutions.

LB-30 Makes Its Debut at EANM 2026

At EANM 2026, LBT presented the LB-30 to nuclear medicine professionals, radiopharmaceutical companies, researchers and industry partners from international markets.

Discussions during the congress covered radionuclide production, radiopharmaceutical development and the changing technical requirements of future production facilities, providing LBT with an opportunity to exchange perspectives directly with professionals across the nuclear medicine community.

Following its debut at EANM 2026, the LB-30 becomes the latest addition to LBT's medical cyclotron portfolio, extending the company's capabilities for higher-energy, multi-purpose radionuclide production and radiopharmaceutical research.
