HiTHIUM enters Canada with first 8-hour BESS and sodium-ion solutions adapted to extreme cold

TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- HiTHIUM, an integrated full-scenario energy storage solutions provider, has announced its entry into the Canadian market. Ranked in the top two globally for energy storage component, the manufacturer has surpassed 200 GWh in cumulative delivered capacity, focusing exclusively on stationary energy storage technologies.

Canada's energy storage expansion requires reliable large-scale suppliers and local presence

Mizhi Zhang, HiTHIUM President of Global Business, commented: "We are committed to delivering Canadian customers advanced, robust solutions, from 8-hour long duration energy storage to extreme-weather-ready sodium-ion BESS. But this also means being present for customers wherever they are, able to serve them quickly and locally. While Toronto serves as the main hub for our Canadian operations, we have subsidiary offices in British Columbia and Alberta, as well as operating sites in Quebec, Yellowknife, and Fort Smith."

HiTHIUM has introduced 4-hour and 8-hour BESS solutions to serve the market's rapid buildout of utility-scale energy storage. With installed Canadian storage expected to double between 2025 and 2027, and the country's total wind, solar, and energy storage capacity on track to reach 50 GW by 2035, HiTHIUM is positioned to fill the growing demand for BESS on a large scale. The company has also revealed a new 4 MWh sodium-ion storage solution, which is designed for an extra-long service life, supports storage durations from 2 to 8 hours, and is perfect for extremely cold climates, like Northern Canada.

"Canada's ambitious clean energy targets, as well as its high safety and regulatory standards, require partners who can deliver advanced technology that's also tested and compliance-ready. At the same time, project developers have to consider the tough climate. As a vertically integrated, global solutions provider, HiTHIUM is structured to meet exactly this nexus of challenges. Our strategy of advancing both lithium-ion and sodium-ion storage is designed to offer customers in markets like Canada the benefits of flexibility, since we see these technologies as highly complementary," continued Zhang.

"Our partners, whether major energy developers, public utilities, or industrial enterprises, rely on our readiness for local certification and our long-term bankability to support them, from permitting through project commissioning," added Jordan Hebbert, HiTHIUM Senior Manager of Canada. "Likewise, they depend on the proven durability of HiTHIUM technology—including performance even in extreme weather conditions. In fact, long-term operational data from North American and European projects has recently demonstrated systems outperforming even our guarantees. And we offer customers a wider range of durations and choice of chemistries because we understand that they're coming to us with a very diverse range of energy storage needs."

4-hour or 8-hour BESS: Matching duration to project specifications

The manufacturer's 4-hour BESS solution consists of its "∞Power" 6.25 MWh container, built on HiTHIUM's own 1175 Ah cell. Most Canadian projects are currently designed around the 4-hour unit. This enables them to shift wind, solar, and baseload output to later peak times, strengthen grid reliability, and drive the consumption of more renewables, particularly as electrification increases demand. The ∞Power system design fits more capacity into the typical 20-foot container but also reduces a project's overall footprint, because the containers can be placed back-to-back and side-to-side.

In a groundbreaking step for long duration energy storage, HiTHIUM also developed the first ever native 8-hour solution based on lithium-ion technology. Its 6.9 MWh 8-hour BESS, built with HiTHIUM's own 1300 Ah cells, fewer components overall, and a 25-year lifespan, is designed to address issues like curtailments and to fill key gaps for zero-downtime industrial segments like AI data centers. For wind project developers and data center operators alike, 8-hour BESS offers risk reduction and greater revenue reliability.

Extreme fire test validates safety architecture

HiTHIUM additionally worked with UL Solutions at the start of 2026 on an independently conducted, extreme fire test of its 6.25 MWh block's intrinsic safety systems. A container was subjected to 24 hours of extreme combustion conditions, with its doors opened for maximum thermal spread, while neighboring containers were placed just 15 cm away. Only the containers' passive safety systems were enabled. The results validated HiTHIUM's multi-layer safety architecture, with the tested container structurally intact after the test, no thermal propagation across the containers, and the temperatures of cells in adjacent containers remaining below safety thresholds.

Why Regular Health Screenings Are Important

Why Regular Health Screenings Are Important

Nothing is more important than your health, and staying on top of it with regular health screenings is one of the best ways to maintain your overall well-being. Even when you feel healthy, routine screenings can identify underlying health concerns, often before symptoms appear.

At Radiant Health Centers, our LGBTQ+ medical clinic in Orange County offers compassionate, inclusive care customized to meet the unique needs of our patients in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. Here’s why regular screenings play an important role in proactive healthcare.

The Benefits of Routine Health Screenings

From checking blood pressure and cholesterol levels to screening for certain types of cancers and STIs, health screenings are an important part of maintaining overall well-being. The purpose of these preventive assessments is to check for signs of potential health issues before symptoms appear.

The type of screenings your healthcare provider will recommend (along with testing frequency) can vary based on individual risk factors such as age, health history and family history. Let’s explore why it’s important to stay current with your recommended health screenings.

Detect Potential Health Concerns Early-On

Detecting underlying health concerns early-on is one of the most important reasons to stay current with recommended screenings. Understand that not all health conditions exhibit obvious warning signs in their early stages. Examples of such conditions include high blood pressure, diabetes, certain forms of cancer and some types of STIs.

Regular screenings can uncover these conditions before they begin affecting how you feel. When a potential concern is found, your healthcare provider can determine the type of additional testing, monitoring or treatment that may be necessary.

Monitor Your Health Over Time

Routine health screenings can give both you and your healthcare provider a better understanding of your health over time. By comparing results from current screenings with past assessments, your provider may be able to detect changes in your health that would otherwise go unnoticed.

For instance, keeping track of your blood pressure and cholesterol over time can reveal changes that may be of concern, allowing your provider to determine what type of care you may require. When changes or new symptoms raise questions, your provider can help determine whether it’s time to schedule a new health screening or seek further evaluation.

Potentially Lowers Healthcare Costs

When an underlying concern worsens, the cost of more extensive testing, treatment and care can quickly add up. Regular screenings can help you stay ahead of your healthcare needs and address any concerns as they arise.

While they don’t necessarily eliminate the risk of future health problems, routine screenings may help reduce the need for more costly interventions, potentially lowering your healthcare costs over time.

Supports Long-Term Care

By staying current with health screenings, you can establish a relationship with a trusted healthcare provider who understands your unique health history, risk factors and personal needs. Having a provider you trust can make a world of difference when it comes to discussing your concerns, asking questions, and making informed decisions about your healthcare.

For example, for patients who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, establishing a relationship with a healthcare provider at an LGBTQ+ medical clinic can make it easier to seek long-term care.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong, China

Oct 21, 2026, 00:55 ET

HONG KONG, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The "Regional Capacity Building Programme – Global Frontiers in Corruption Prevention" co-organised by the Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption (HKIAAC) of the ICAC of Hong Kong, China, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) of South Africa, and the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) ended in a high note earlier in Pretoria, South Africa.

Drawing approximately 100 graft fighters from 17 jurisdictions across the African region, the four-day initiative held between October 12 and 15 marked the first regional capacity building programme organised following the signing of the landmark Memorandum of Understanding between the ICAC and the SIU in 2024. This regional capacity building programme also set an ICAC's new record in the international training arena, becoming the widest jurisdictional participation that ICAC conducted overseas.

Leveraging the dynamic tripartite partnership among the ICAC, the HKIAAC, and the IAACA, the programme aimed to equip African counterparts to enhance technical capacity within their home jurisdictions for implementing corruption prevention frameworks, assist them in leveraging investigative findings to formulate system reforms for plugging identified corruption loopholes and to build a unified Asia-Africa-IAACA network for continuous information sharing and institutional support.

During the programme, ICAC representatives examined a wide range of topics to illustrate Hong Kong's successful experience in fighting corruption and building integrity. On the preventive front, ICAC officers shared how the Commission harnessed technology for corruption prevention by introducing its new Integrity Assurance Standards for Computer System, as well as advancing integrity standards across industries through public-private partnerships.

On the educational front, ICAC's multi-faceted approach comprising meaningful youth engagement and innovative media publicity was expounded. On the enforcement front, seasoned ICAC investigator shed light on combating misconduct in public office and financial fraud involving corruption risks through case studies.

ICAC representatives also took the opportunity to examine how the Commission's new "Tianma" AI enforcement system could reshape the future of anti-graft enforcement.

On behalf of the ICAC, Principal Corruption Prevention Officer Mr Stanley Chio Kai-ming expressed gratitude to the SIU for its unwavering support in co-organising the programme. While this programme bridged the distinct experiences of Hong Kong and Africa, the ICAC looked forward to forging a vibrant network connecting practitioners across African nations to advance global integrity together.

Participants coming from Botswana, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Libya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, the United Republic of Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, highly appreciated the programme, adding that the impactful sharing from ICAC officers offered invaluable insights and consolidated their collective commitment to combat corruption for safeguarding the African continent.

Conscious Spark LLC Launches Alphimiya® Neuro-Recalibration Framework Designed to Resolve C-Suite Revenue Plateaus

New research-backed neuro-recalibration framework targets the autonomic nervous system's threat response to managing high financial amounts, offering enterprise leaders a biological pathway to scaling.

ANTALYA, Turkey and ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Conscious Spark LLC, a research and advisory firm specializing in applied neuroscience for executive leadership, today announced the official launch of Alphimiya®, a proprietary C-suite neuro-recalibration framework designed to resolve corporate revenue plateaus by upgrading the biological capacity of enterprise decision-makers.

Developed to address the root causes of stalled enterprise growth, the Alphimiya® framework targets the human autonomic nervous system's subconscious threat response to managing high financial amounts. When commercial leaders and CEOs attempt to scale past historical capital thresholds without recalibrating their stress response, the body's natural survival mechanism triggers decision fatigue, strategic risk aversion, and systemic self-sabotage. Alphimiya® recalibrates this biological safety brake, enabling executive teams to hold, absorb, and scale larger financial volumes without physiological or operational friction.

"A corporate revenue plateau is rarely an operational or marketing failure; it is a biological safety brake embedded within executive leadership," stated Dr. Ahmed Al-Nashi, Founder of Conscious Spark LLC. "When managing high financial amounts triggers an underlying physical stress response, the enterprise subconsciously contracts to remain in its perceived safe zone. Alphimiya® removes that biological friction, allowing C-level leaders to multiply revenue with calm, biological authority."

The Alphimiya® framework restructures executive performance across three core operational pillars:

Sovereign Enterprise Scaling: Expands the nervous system's tolerance for high-stakes capital, allowing leadership teams to scale revenue without experiencing executive burnout.

High-Value Deal Execution: Regulates autonomic stress responses during multi-million-dollar negotiations and volatile market entries, eliminating hesitation under pressure.

Restored Strategic Clarity: Removes chronic decision fatigue across C-suite teams, restoring mental focus and strategic presence inside and outside the boardroom.

By recalibrating the autonomic nervous system's response to high capital exposure, Alphimiya® removes the subconscious biological brakes that lock corporate revenue at a standstill. Senior C-level executives and enterprise leadership teams seeking to evaluate their organization's biological capacity can access the official executive briefing, case studies, and framework assessment directly at https://alphimiya.co/.

About Conscious Spark LLC

Conscious Spark LLC is a U.S.-registered firm specializing in executive education, training, and strategic performance consulting. Pioneering applied neuroscience for C-level leaders, founders, and commercial decision-makers, the firm utilizes its proprietary Alphimiya® methodology to enable leadership teams to recalibrate biological stress responses, resolve revenue ceilings, and build scalable corporations.

A Decade After Daniels, Métis National Council Calls for Action
Image File
Original HTML

Ottawa, April 14, 2026 — The Métis National Council (MNC) is marking the 10-year anniversary of Daniels v. Canada, a landmark 2016 decision of the Supreme Court of Canada that affirmed Métis are included under Section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, confirming federal jurisdiction in relation to the Métis.

This milestone coincides with other significant anniversaries, including 30 years since the report issued by the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples and more than a decade since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Together, these moments reflect longstanding commitments to reset the relationship between Canada and the Métis Nation. Commitments that remain only partially fulfilled. “Ten years ago, the Daniels decision provided long-overdue legal clarity that the federal government has constitutional jurisdiction in relation to the Métis Nation, and the corresponding responsibility to engage in good faith on programs, services, and self-government,” says President Victoria Pruden. “But clarity alone is not enough. A decade later, that responsibility has yet to be meaningfully realized in the lives of Métis citizens. The promise of a transformed relationship remains largely unfulfilled.”

Prior to the Daniels decision, Métis were subject to prolonged jurisdictional disputes between federal and provincial governments, resulting in persistent gaps in programs, services, and negotiations. While Daniels resolved the question of federal jurisdiction, it did not compel implementation, leaving progress uneven and inconsistent. Ten years later, Métis citizens continue to experience disparities in access to essential services. In many cases, Métis governments are stepping in to fill gaps without corresponding and sustained federal support.

This anniversary also underscores a broader pattern in reconciliation: commitments made at the national level without coordinated, long-term implementation. The Daniels decision, alongside the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, signalled an important shift, but tangible progress has not kept pace with those commitments.

“Reconciliation cannot be measured by anniversaries or announcements,” added President Pruden. “It must be measured by concrete, measurable improvements in the lives of Métis citizens.”

The MNC is calling on the federal government to take decisive action by advancing a clear and coordinated national approach to implementing Daniels in partnership with the Métis governments, fully utilizing existing bilateral mechanisms and frameworks, advancing Métis self-government, and improving the lives of Métis citizens through sustained investment in Métis-led solutions.

As the Métis Nation reflects on this milestone, the path forward is clear. “The question is no longer whether Canada has the authority to act. It does,” said President Pruden. “The Métis Nation cannot afford another decade of delay.”

– 30 –

Since 1983, the Métis National Council has been the national and international voice of the Métis Nation within Canada. Through national research and policy development, the MNC advocates to advance the rights and interests of Métis Governments, including the implementation of the Métis Nation’s inherent right to self-determination and self-government. The MNC is committed to accountability and transparency within its operations, and to its relationships with its Governing Members and other partners.

Métis National Council Commends Senate Committee Amendment to Bill C-9 to Criminalize Residential School Denialism
Image File
Original HTML

The Métis National Council (MNC) welcomes the decision of the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights to amend Bill C-9 to include the criminalization of residential school denialism, an important and overdue step toward addressing anti-Indigenous hate in Canada. The amendment would recognize the denial, distortion, or minimization of the harms caused by the residential school system as a form of hate propaganda under the Criminal Code.

For years, the MNC has called for stronger action to confront residential school denialism and the growing normalization of anti-Indigenous rhetoric that seeks to erase or diminish the lived experiences of Survivors and their families. MNC specifically advanced this recommendation in 2022 when First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Survivors travelled to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis, emphasizing the need for governments and institutions to actively combat denialism as part of meaningful reconciliation.

Most recently, President Victoria Pruden directly advocated for the inclusion of residential school denialism in Bill C-9 during her testimony before the Standing Senate Committee on Human Rights, where she emphasized the urgent need to address growing forms of anti-Métis hate, including denialism directed at the harms and legacy of residential schools.

“Residential school denialism is not simply misinformation, it is a harmful form of hate that seeks to erase the truth of Survivors, diminish the intergenerational impacts of these institutions, and undermine reconciliation efforts in this country,” said President Pruden. “The Senate committee’s amendment sends an important message: Canada must not tolerate the denial or distortion of the profound harms caused by the residential school system.”

President Pruden emphasized that Métis Survivors and families continue to carry the impacts of residential schools and related institutions across generations, and that truth must remain at the centre of reconciliation.

“For many Survivors, denialism compounds trauma. It tells them their experiences are up for debate, that the pain they carry is somehow exaggerated or unworthy of acknowledgment,” added President Pruden. “Reconciliation cannot move forward if truth itself is continually questioned. We owe Survivors — including Métis Survivors — more than words. We owe them action.”

The MNC recognizes the leadership of Survivors, Indigenous leadership, and parliamentarians who pushed for this amendment and urges all parliamentarians to support its adoption as Bill C-9 proceeds through the legislative process.

“This amendment reflects what Survivors and Indigenous leaders, including the Métis National Council, have been calling for over many years,” said President Pruden. “The history and legacy of residential schools are well documented through Survivor testimony, commissions, inquiries, and decades of advocacy. Criminalizing residential school denialism is about protecting truth, honouring Survivors, and ensuring that hate against Indigenous Peoples has no place in Canada.”

Métis National Council Welcomes Engagement on Future Stewardship of the Hudson’s Bay Company Royal Charter of 1670
Image File
Original HTML

Winnipeg, MB, June 11, 2026 — Today the Métis National Council (MNC) participated in the welcoming ceremony and reception for the Hudson’s Bay Company Royal Charter of 1670 in Winnipeg, as the historic document begins a new chapter in public stewardship. President Victoria Pruden was invited to attend and was represented by Secretary Sarah Wolfe from the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, who attended on behalf of the MNC. Following its purchase by the Weston and Thomson families, the Charter has been entrusted to a consortium of four public Canadian institutions: The Manitoba Museum, The Archives of Manitoba, The Canadian Museum of History, and The Royal Ontario Museum where it will now be jointly stewarded and made accessible to Canadians.

For the Métis Nation, the Charter holds particular and lasting significance. The fur trade economies and kinship networks that developed under the Hudson’s Bay Company contributed to the historical conditions that supported the emergence of Métis Nation as a distinct Indigenous People, with our own culture, traditions, languages, and nationhood that continues to thrive across the Métis Nation Homeland today. While the Charter itself did not create the Métis Nation, it shaped many of the historical realities through which Métis communities flourished and our Nation emerged.

“The transition of the Charter into public stewardship presents an important opportunity to reflect on our shared history with honesty and complexity,” says President Pruden. “For the Métis Nation, this history is not abstract, it is deeply connected to our origins, our communities, and our continued presence across the Homeland. As Canadians engage with this document, it is important that Métis perspectives and experiences are part of the story being told.”

With the Charter now in public stewardship, MNC calls upon the HBC Royal Charter Consortium to engage meaningfully with the MNC and Métis Governments in the co-development of how the Royal Charter is publicly interpreted and presented, ensuring Métis histories, perspectives, and experiences are meaningfully reflected. As Canadians engage with the Royal Charter and its legacy, the MNC believes it is essential that the full complexity of this shared history be meaningfully understood and reflected. Ensuring Métis voices, experiences, and histories are part of this conversation is critical to advancing understanding, strengthening relationships, and supporting reconciliation for future generations.

The Métis National Council (MNC) and the Northwest Territory Métis Nation (NWTMN) gathered in Saskatoon on July 15–16 for the inaugural NWTMN–MNC Leadership Summit. Leaders from the MNC, the NWTMN, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, and the Métis Nation of Ontario came together to strengthen relationships, identify shared priorities, and advance collaboration on issues affecting Métis citizens across the Homeland.

The Summit marks an important milestone in implementing and operationalizing the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year between the MNC and the NWTMN. It provided an opportunity for participating governments to deepen relationships, exchange perspectives on shared priorities, and establish a foundation for ongoing collaboration while respecting the distinct governance structures, mandates, and priorities of each government.

“This Summit reflects a shared commitment to strengthening relationships between Métis governments and working together where our priorities align. By creating space for honest dialogue and practical collaboration, we are building a stronger foundation to advance the issues that matter to most Métis citizens across the Homeland.” – President Victoria Pruden

“This Leadership Summit provided an opportunity for the leadership of the NWTMN to listen to and share our perspectives with the participating Métis governments. We look forward to further collaborating with the Métis governments to find common approaches to address outstanding issues with the Government of Canada concerning our rights, claims and human rights. We will continue advocating that Canada honor its requirement to implement the Daniels case and the actions required to implement UNDRIP. We are stronger together in unity and hopefully we can have all Métis together across the Homeland working together to address the inequality our people have been living with for hundreds of years.” – President Garry Bailey

Over the course of two days, leaders engaged in discussions on governance, intergovernmental relations, federal engagement, and shared policy priorities, including implementation of the Daniels decision, health, housing, education, environment and major projects, justice, and Métis claims processes.

The Summit also provided direction to senior officials to continue collaborative work in several priority areas and to develop recommendations for consideration at a future leadership meeting in early 2027.

“One of the Métis National Council’s most important responsibilities is creating opportunities for Métis governments to come together, strengthen relationships and coordinate on issues of shared National importance,” said President Pruden. “This Summit was an important example of that role in action and we look forward to continuing this work with the Northwest Territory Métis Nation and our Governing Members.”

The Leadership Summit builds on the commitments established through the MOU by creating a structured forum for ongoing dialogue, information sharing, and coordinated engagement where interests align. Together, participating governments reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively to advance opportunities for Métis citizens while respecting the autonomy and jurisdiction of each government.

Over the past two days, the openness, collaborative spirit, and willingness to exchange knowledge, best practices, challenges, and experiences has strengthened the commitment of Métis governments and the MNC to work together in advancing shared priorities and addressing issues of common interest. Several priorities emerged throughout the discussions, including the opportunity for coordinated advocacy to advance a Métis claims process; implementing of the Daniels decision; securing long-term, sustainable funding for Métis-led justice and policing initiatives; enhancing youth participation across policy development and decision-making; strengthening collaboration on environment, climate change, and emergency management; and ensuring meaningful Métis participation in Canada’s economic development agenda. There was also interest in creating more opportunities for Métis governments to exchange knowledge and share lessons learned on self-government and treaty implementation. The MNC is well positioned as the National Indigenous Organization for Métis to support this work by carrying out its mandate to advocate, convene, and carry out policy research and coordination to advance Métis Nation priorities at the national and international level.

The MNC remains committed to supporting strong relationships among Métis governments and fostering collaborative approaches that advance shared priorities and improve outcomes for Métis citizens. The discussions held in Saskatoon will guide continued engagement between participating governments and inform the next NWTMN–MNC Leadership Summit planned for early 2027.
