Merit acquires veteran Commonwealth advisor with Next-Generation team and plans to accelerate growth in Illinois and Wisconsin

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Merit Financial Advisors ("Merit"), a Georgia-based financial advisory firm specializing in financial planning and wealth management solutions for high-net-worth individuals and families and those navigating life transitions, today announced that veteran financial advisor Tim Brennan and his team have been acquired by Merit, further expanding the firm's presence in the greater Chicago market. Brennan previously operated through a firm affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network, where he spent nearly 27 years.

With more than $32.92 billion in assets across more than 70 offices nationwide, Merit has become one of the wealth management industry's most active growth firms, completing 62 acquisitions to date. This marks the firm's eleventh partnership in 2026.

Brennan's practice oversees approximately $888 million in client assets and serves more than 1,000 households. Based in Deerfield, Illinois, Brennan has spent 37 years in the financial services industry and has built his business organically. His practice serves a broad range of clients, with particular experience working with business owners and high-net-worth families.

The addition represents another significant step in Merit's expansion throughout Chicagoland, where the firm established a presence last year through its partnership with Blueprint Wealth Advisors. Merit sees the combination of established local teams, experienced advisors and growing next-generation talent as the foundation for continued expansion in the region.

"Tim is exactly the type of advisor and leader we want to partner with as we continue building our presence in Chicago," said David Wahlen, Executive Vice President/Strategic Partners of Merit Financial Advisors. "He has an exceptional track record of serving clients, developing talent and growing his business almost entirely through referrals. He and his team also share the client-first, entrepreneurial culture we value at Merit. With Tim's presence in Deerfield and our existing team in Chicago, we believe we are creating a very strong platform for growth throughout the region."

Brennan said the opportunity to continue growing, both personally and professionally, was a major factor in his decision.

"After 37 years in this business, I still love what I do and I still want to grow," said Brennan. "What attracted me to Merit was the opportunity to be part of a firm that is building something and continuing to evolve. It reminds me of what it felt like earlier in my career to be part of a growing organization. There is energy, opportunity and a willingness to invest in what advisors and clients need next."

Brennan was also attracted to Merit's broader investment capabilities and resources for high-net-worth clients and business owners.

"As an advisor, I want to be able to bring clients the best solutions available for their circumstances," Brennan said. "One of the things that stood out about Merit was the depth of investment expertise and the broader range of resources we can now bring to clients. That gives us the ability to have a more complete conversation and provide more comprehensive advice."

Creating greater opportunities for his team, including a solid bench of next gen advisors, was another significant factor in Brennan's decision.

From Merit's perspective, Brennan's focus on his team was one of the qualities that reinforced the cultural fit between the organizations.

"From the beginning, Tim was incredibly focused on making sure the people around him would be positioned for success," said Wahlen. "That says a great deal about the kind of leader he is. We want to partner with advisors who are thinking not only about the next stage of their own careers, but about the next generation of their businesses."

Brennan and his team will remain in their existing office in Deerfield, Illinois, a location that provides significant opportunity for continued growth across Chicago's affluent northern suburbs.

The partnership also expands Brennan's opportunity in Wisconsin. Brennan has operated a practice in the Fond du Lac/Oshkosh region for over 15 years and will continue operating that office with its existing local employees. Merit already has a substantial presence and infrastructure in Wisconsin, which the firm believes can help Brennan further grow the business.

In conjunction with his move to Merit, Brennan also completed the acquisition of an approximately $57 million Wisconsin advisory practice, further expanding his presence in the region.

"With Merit's existing infrastructure in Wisconsin and the additional resources we now have behind us, I see a meaningful opportunity to grow that presence," continued Brennan.

Merit also sees significant potential for collaboration between Brennan's team and its other Chicagoland advisors, several of whom have known Brennan professionally for many years.

"We now have two outstanding teams in the Chicagoland market that know one another, respect one another and are already finding opportunities to collaborate," said Wahlen. "That gives us the beginnings of a very scalable regional enterprise, and we are extremely bullish about what we can build from here."

Brennan and his team were acquired by Merit effective September 10, 2026. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Bybit's USD1 Hold & Earn Closes Out with a Final Shot at 35 Million WLFI

DUBAI, UAE, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has announced another month of rewards in its USD1 Hold & Earn program. From now until October 16, 2026, the fifth and final month marks the last opportunity for users to earn WLFI rewards daily from a 35,000,000 WLFI pool, simply by holding USD1 in their Bybit account before the program concludes.

Once enrolled, eligible holders can earn up to 8% APR and win daily rewards from the exclusive incentive program. No staking, subscription or lock-up is required. Holders can also track their standing on the USD1 Holder Leaderboard, which updates daily and ranks the top 50 USD1 holders on Bybit by effective holdings.

Daily rewards are calculated using the formula: effective daily USD1 holdings multiplied by the USD1/USDT settlement price, multiplied by the daily APR, divided by 365, divided by the WLFI/USDT settlement price. Both settlement prices are determined by the average of the last trade price per minute between 23:30 and 23:59 UTC, sourced from the Bybit Spot Market. Actual APR and reward amounts may vary based on total participation and market pricing during the campaign period.

The program will conclude Bybit's engagement with the USD1 ecosystem in 2026. Launched in April 2026, Bybit's USD1 Ecosystem Carnival introduced three new USD1-quoted trading pairs, BTC/USD1, ETH/USD1 and USDC/USD1, alongside a series of trading and gamified campaigns that distributed a combined 10,000,000 WLFI in rewards.

USD1 is a USD-backed stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial, fully collateralized by short-term U.S. Treasury securities and cash equivalents and designed to maintain a stable 1:1 peg with the US Dollar. WLFI is the governance token of World Liberty Financial, a DeFi protocol built to broaden access to decentralized financial services. Token holders can participate in protocol governance decisions and contribute to the direction of the ecosystem.

Terms and conditions apply. Actual APR and reward amounts may vary based on total participation and market pricing during the campaign period. For details on eligibility and potential restrictions, users may visit: USD1 Hold & Earn Month 5: 35M WLFI Rewards, Up to 8% APR.

Scailarc, Elisa and Nokia demonstrate world-fist call handled without answering, powered by IMS Data Channel

Scailarc, Elisa and Nokia demonstrate world-fist call handled without answering, powered by IMS Data Channel

HELSINKI, Sept. 18, 2026 Proof of concept shows how customers can complete an important service task even when they cannot answer a call

Scailarc, Nokia and Elisa have completed a proof-of-concept demo of a new mobile calling experience that enables interactive, visual communication before and during a call. The showcase demonstrated a first-of-its-kind scenario where a customer can complete a call-related action without answering the call, using IMS Data Channel technology and trusted caller verification enabled through Nokia's Network as Code platform. The call was made with the new Jolla Phone.

The demo uses an Elisa customer service scenario: Elisa calls about a fibre installation. The customer cannot speak but sees a trusted interactive call screen and selects "Book installation time". Elisa sees the customer move to self-service, and the customer completes the task immediately - without having to answer the call.

A new phase in the mobile call lifecycle

Created by Scailarc with support from Nokia and Elisa, the solution brings rich, interactive content into the native phone experience without requiring a separate app. It extends the phone call from a voice connection into a trusted media channel before, during and after the call.

For companies, this can enhance efficiency by improving reachability and service completion by displaying customers a clear reason for the call, verified context and simple interactive options. For customers, it offers a convenient way to handle service tasks when speaking is not possible or appropriate.

Technology foundation

The solution is based on IMS Data Channel, a 3GPP standard that enables rich data interactions inside a normal phone call. Nokia's Network as Code capabilities support caller identification, helping create a trusted interaction between caller and customer. The standards-based solution works independently of device model or mobile OS ecosystem.

Security and trust are central to the concept. IMS Data Channel interfaces run inside an isolated environment in the phone's native calling app, preventing access to phone data. Data is encrypted, and Scailarc verifies application content and digital fingerprints to help prevent hijacking.

"This proof of concept shows how the traditional phone call can become a trusted, interactive customer service channel. Visual context, verified caller information, and simple self-service actions can help customers complete tasks faster and with confidence," says Marko Rapeli, Co-founder & CEO, Scailarc.

"Elisa is exploring innovations that make digital services easier and safer. Today's Proof of Concept demonstrates the potential this service has for the reduction of daily life friction. We are looking forward to further developing this technology for the benefit of our corporate and consumer customers," says Laura Pitkänen, Vice President, Subscriptions and Services, Corporate Customers, Elisa.

"Programmable network capabilities can help developers and service providers create new real-time experiences. This showcase demonstrates how network capabilities can support trusted, contextual communications directly in the call experience," Shkumbin Hamiti, Vice President, Network Monetization Platform, Nokia.

The companies see potential for trusted, interactive calling in sectors where identification, timely action and customer confidence are critical, including healthcare, banking, public services, logistics, public safety and legally required customer contacts.

Centron and Tsinghua University Sign R&D Collaboration Agreement

Turning Real Production-Line Challenges into Research Questions

WUXI, China, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Centron signed an industry-academia-research cooperation agreement with the team of Professor Zhang Xiangyu from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University during the 2026 Xishan Technology Transfer Conference held on Sept. 15 in Wuxi.

The agreement was signed under the Xishan-Tsinghua industry-academia collaboration program, which promotes cooperation through a practical model in which enterprises raise questions, universities contribute research-based approaches, and the market tests results in application.

In adhesive dispensing, the main challenge is rarely a single piece of equipment. It lies in process consistency, where dispensing volume, path, cycle time and substrate condition are closely coupled. Addressing such issues requires not only experimental data, but also long-term validation under real production conditions.

Centron has accumulated application and validation experience in dispensing, potting and trickle impregnation across manufacturing scenarios including automotive body shop, final assembly, battery pack production and e-drive applications. Tsinghua University's Department of Mechanical Engineering brings strengths in fluid control, precision equipment and engineering research methods. This type of collaboration helps connect production-side conditions with structured research tools.

For customers, what matters is not only individual equipment performance, but also consistency, traceability and reliability across the production line. Cooperation between industry and academia can help shorten the path between technical verification and practical application, supporting more stable process solutions in demanding manufacturing environments.

More broadly, such collaboration creates a closer link between the laboratory and the factory floor, allowing research to engage earlier with manufacturing constraints and practical challenges to return earlier to the research stage. Over time, that connection can become an important part of how industrial know-how and engineering research reinforce each other.

About Centron

Centron is a high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, manufacturing, sales and customer service, dedicated to delivering advanced, reliable and precise dispensing, potting and trickle impregnation solutions for the automotive, e-mobility, energy storage battery and industrial manufacturing sectors. Building on its continued investment in process automation and digital traceability, Centron supports customers in achieving consistent quality performance and efficient operations at scale.

Xryma Plc Reports Steady H1 2026 Results While Positioning the Group for Its Next Phase of Growth

NICOSIA, Cyprus, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Xryma Plc ("Group", "Xryma"), a banktech group providing regulated cross-border open banking, international transactional banking and real-time EU and UK payment services, whilst also independently offering banking software and technology to third party banks and financial institutions, today announced its audited H1 2026 financial results for the six months ended 30 June 2026.

"The first half of 2026 remained firmly within the strategic investment period we outlined to shareholders. We made a conscious decision to prioritise the infrastructure and new opportunities required for Xryma's next phase of growth, accepting the near-term impact this would have on Client Revenue and profitability," said Ajay Treon, Group Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director, Xryma Plc.

"Importantly, that investment is now translating into delivery. We completed our Eurosystem T2 integration in June, continued to progress TIPS, PaidBy® and XrymaCoin, while Technology Services (as defined in the Prospectus) continued its strong growth, with revenue increasing 77%. Our SaaS and Banking Platform activities provide stable recurring income alongside higher-value consulting, bespoke development and customisation revenues.

We have achieved this while remaining profitable and maintaining a strong financial position, ending H1 2026 with €59.4 million of net assets and €50.9 million of cash. As the principal build phase of our strategic investment programme approaches completion, our focus is now shifting to activation, commercialisation and growth. We expect to see the first signs of that commercial momentum in Q4 2026, with the benefits of the investments we have made beginning to materialise from 2027 through revenue growth and operating leverage."

H1 2026 Highlights

- Strategic investment programme nearing completion, with the Group's focus progressively shifting from investment and build to activation, commercialisation and growth.

- Client Revenue of €16.9 million, compared with €27.7 million in H1 2025, reflecting the anticipated near-term impact of prioritising strategic investment, and deferring certain complementary enhancements to existing products and services.

- Technology Services revenue increased 77% to €1.65 million, compared with €0.93 million in H1 2025, supported by recurring SaaS and Banking Platform income alongside higher-value consulting, bespoke development and customisation.

- The Group remained profitable throughout the investment period, reporting profit after tax of €0.03 million, compared with €12.3 million in H1 2025.

- Strong financial position maintained, with net assets of €59.4 million and cash and cash equivalents of €50.9 million at 30 June 2026, while continuing to meet applicable regulatory capital requirements.

- Major strategic milestones delivered, including completion of direct Eurosystem T2 integration in June 2026 following successful notification of participation in October 2025, together with continued progress across TIPS, PaidBy® Mastercard and XrymaCoin.

- Active capital allocation continued, including the early termination and repayment of the restructured NSX loan facilities and increased investment in BeEmotion AI, alongside progress towards completing the KYC initiative with BeEmotion.

- Commercial momentum expected to be regained in Q4 2026, with the benefits of the strategic investment programme expected to begin materialising from 2027 through revenue growth and operating leverage.

Nikogiannis Karantzis, Group Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Xryma Plc said: "Our commitment to delivering outstanding products and services to our existing customers remains unwavering. We are dedicated to expanding our customer base and increasing revenues in H2 2026, following the deep infrastructure upgrades of 2025 and H1 2026. Whilst this upgrade programme has impacted our short-term performance, we are of the belief that Xryma will be better positioned to grow revenues in the mid to long-term, with better margins due to our unique positioning in the market.

We are also pleased to have announced that the company's Prospectus was approved by its competent authority, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) on the 14th of July 2026. We will continue to advance our stock exchange listing plans, thus providing liquidity to our existing shareholders, broadening access to capital markets and supporting the Group's long-term growth ambitions."

Edopi Health Care Clinic Highlights Breast Implant Care as Vietnam Expands Focus on Medical Tourism

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As Vietnam continues to develop its healthcare offerings for international visitors, specialized medical and aesthetic services are becoming part of the broader conversation around the country's medical tourism potential.

Against this backdrop, Edopi Health Care Clinic is highlighting its approach to breast implant removal and replacement procedures, including the clinical use of ultrasonic surgical instruments by MD, MSc. Ho Cao Vu.

Dr. Ho Cao Vu has incorporated ultrasonic surgical technology into breast augmentation, explantation and reconstructive procedures as part of his surgical practice. During selected breast explant surgery, ultrasonic surgical instruments may be used to support tissue dissection and hemostasis while surgeons assess the implant pocket and surrounding tissue to determine an appropriate surgical plan for each patient.

Breast implant removal may be considered for a range of clinical or aesthetic reasons, including implant rupture, capsular contracture, implant displacement, symmastia, bottoming out, waterfall deformity, recurrent ptosis following breast augmentation, changes in breast shape, or a patient's decision to remove or replace existing implants.

The appropriate surgical approach varies depending on the condition of the implant, surrounding tissue, implant pocket and the patient's overall health.

Following removal of an existing implant, surgeons may assess the implant pocket and surrounding tissue to determine whether additional procedures are required. Depending on clinical findings, these may include capsulectomy, implant-pocket revision, tissue sampling or preparation for implant replacement.

"Breast implant removal should be approached as an individualized surgical procedure rather than a standardized process," said Dr. Ho Cao Vu. "Evaluation of the implant, surrounding tissue and implant pocket helps determine the appropriate surgical plan for each case."

The procedure may also incorporate laryngeal mask airway (LMA) anesthesia in appropriately selected cases, subject to assessment by the anesthesia and surgical teams. The choice of anesthesia and surgical technique depends on the complexity of the procedure, expected operating time, the patient's medical condition and other clinical considerations.

Breast implant explantation is a surgical procedure and carries potential risks including bleeding, infection, hematoma, seroma, scarring and anesthesia-related complications. Pre-operative assessment and post-operative monitoring therefore form part of the overall treatment process.

More complex cases, including suspected implant rupture, significant capsular contracture, intra-pocket bleeding or abnormal tissue findings, may require additional investigation or intervention.

Dr. Ho Cao Vu has used ultrasonic surgical instruments in breast surgery since 2011. His clinical work includes breast augmentation, explantation and reconstructive procedures.

About MD, MSc. Ho Cao Vu

MD, MSc. Ho Cao Vu specializes in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. He holds Medical Practice License No. 028475/BYT-CCHN, issued by Vietnam's Ministry of Health in 2018. His professional background includes more than 15 years in aesthetic plastic surgery and more than 20 years of experience in general surgery.

In 2010, Dr. Ho Cao Vu undertook training in breast reconstruction following cancer treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He currently works with the Department of Surgery at Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital, where he performs plastic and reconstructive procedures.

2026 Utility Innovation Survey: Industry leaders turning more to AI as data-center boom reshapes grid planning

National Grid Partners survey of U.S. utility innovation leaders finds 78% use artificial intelligence to manage rising power demand, as industry works to keep pace with rapid change

BOSTON, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- National Grid Partners, the corporate venture capital and innovation arm of one of the world's largest energy companies, today unveiled its third annual Utility Innovation Survey. It found utilities – faced with rising power demand from AI data centers – increasingly are deploying artificial intelligence to manage that demand, boost reliability and cut costs.

Nearly three-fourths of utility innovation leaders surveyed (74%) say AI-driven data center load growth is impacting grid reliability. Yet even more (78%) said they're deploying or operationalizing at least one AI application to manage interconnection demand.

"The rapid growth of AI data centers is creating new operational and financial pressures for our industry, but AI also can be a significant part of the solution," said Pradeep Tagare, Interim President of National Grid Partners.

The findings were revealed at the fourth annual NextGrid Alliance Summit, where leaders from more than 50 worldwide utilities shared strategies to accelerate innovation. National Grid founded the Alliance to encourage collaboration between utilities, regulators and startups.

In another sign of the pressure AI data centers are placing on power infrastructure, the survey found grid reliability has overtaken net zero as a top industry concern. When asked to rank their organizational priorities, 73% of utility leaders placed reliability in their top three (up from 43% in 2025). Meanwhile, net-zero goals fell from 54% to 16%

The Innovation Survey also found the ability to scale solutions remains uneven. While 72% of utility leaders report increased innovation budgets this year, project deployment timelines continue to stretch: 84% of organizations now take more than a year to move projects from pilot to full rollout, up from 78% in 2025 and 66% in 2024.

As in prior years, respondents cited reasons including a dearth of workers skilled in AI and the industry's traditionally cautious culture. Most innovation spending (59%) goes toward incremental improvements, compared with just 16% directed toward transformational initiatives.

Notably, 87% of those surveyed also say returns on innovation investments are being limited by regulatory and rate-case frameworks developed before the current AI-driven demand boom. And 83% say the cost of building infrastructure to serve AI data centers is being passed on to residential customers through higher electricity bills.

National Grid this week became a founding member of the AI Energy Management Alliance (AMEA), a consortium of technology leaders Google and NVIDIA; AI startups such as Anthropic and Emerald AI; and other major utilities including RWE, Constellation, and NRG. The group will push for policies that encourage the development of flexible data centers, which can automatically reduce power usage during periods of peak demand and buffer surrounding communities from price spikes.

Emerald AI is part of the National Grid Partners portfolio. Last December, it led a pilot in the UK with National Grid and NVIDIA that found AI software could cut data center energy use during simulated grid strain by more than a third in under a minute – while still protecting the data center's most critical workloads.

"By working with startups and scaling proven innovation, utilities can better manage demand, improve reliability and support economic growth while minimizing impact on local communities," Tagare said.

In fact, the new Innovation Survey found utilities increasingly are partnering with startups for innovative technologies. The share of respondents whose companies do so rose from 28% last year to 34% in 2026. Just 1% said they have no plans to work with early stage tech companies.

National Grid Partners also announced at the NGA Summit its two latest investments in AI-related startups: Terragrit, a software platform for simulating changes to physical operations; and LineVision, whose grid intelligence platform helps utilities improve resilience and expand capacity without costly new infrastructure.

The utility industry's first and only Silicon Valley-based corporate venture capital and innovation group now has surpassed $600 million in total investment since its 2018 launch. Nearly 80% of its portfolio companies have worked with National Grid to help make its energy networks safer, cleaner, more efficient and more resilient.

National Grid Partners conducted the annual Utility Innovation report using an online survey prepared by Method Research and distributed by RepData. Responses were collected from May 20th to July 7th, 2026, from 134 innovation leaders at utility companies in the United States. To read the full report, visit www.ngpartners.com/stories.
